Transcoding not working Panasonic

Recommended Posts

hi, I just installed the latest version of Emby to my windows machine. I try to watch a mkv file with DLNA with H265 Video kodex which is not supported on my Panasonic TX-55AS750W. The TV is a older one. Direct Play of a mp4 file is working fine. There is no error or something else shown on the TV. Transcoding is starting on the server. I can se the CPU rising up for ffmpeg.exe. After ending the stream the ffmpeg process still runs on the server and I have to close it manually. I think the server is creating a TS file. I can see this in the logs. TS is a supported File format on the TV. Maybe there is a new profile needed for my old TV for transcoding to mp4? Can you help. One thing which is curious the TV DLNA Client shows when choosing the file that it is a "MPEG2-TS" File?! But it is a MKV. Here the info when using the browser:

Thank you for your help.

Access token is invalid or expired happens 70 times.

Since AC3 audio needs transcoding, Emby needs to have a valid license to make that happen.

I think you need a full license for this type of media to transcode and playback.
Ger, did you get a license?

I have no license. I only thought I need one for HW transcoding.

Hi, do you have any files that are able to successfully transcode?

I watched the same mkv on my android phone with reduced quality. nerd settings showed that it was transcoding fine. see the screenshot of my phone attached. Thank you for your help Luke.

hi luke, sorry for not answering faster. but work and family kept me busy 😉

so my TV should play this formats (see jpeg) with direct play. which formats should I test then for transcoding. what do you think would be the best try?

I would start with the ts container, using h264 and aac.
