Is the alphabet quick link hard coded to 27 characters?

In my Movies section, on a webpage, I have a vertical alphabet quick link: # A B C D... etc (through "Z")

Having a movie that has a first letter of Æ will cause the quick link to show:  # A Æ B C D... etc.. however it stops at "Y" and will not show "Z".

Removing the Æ character by renaming the file to "Ae..." will then drop the "Æ" and bring back the "Z" from the quick link.

Yes it is hardcoded mentioned back here.
