Good to see those screens, and it shows what I also experience that mostly the backdrop is shown rathwr dark, like in you Baywatch example. I prefer the more transparent version as in The Island.

Those three are a combination of 3 views, TV, Notebook, Desktop.
The Island and Back to the Future are TV views.

You can see how much darker the notebook and desktop views are.
That was done on purpose to make it easier to read text overtop the graphic. 
Because of the different layout on the TV view, the text isn't as much of a concern so the background can be brighter.

Personally, I think the desktop and notebook background is too dark.
To me it seems like it should be about 1/2 way between the TV view and what it looks like now.

We should be able to adjust the via CSS for web pages.
