Tizi1906 4 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Hi there, im having a little issue where actors metadata are not being populated until i manually refresh. Freshly installed TrueNAS Core 13.0-U6.2 Emby 4.8.10.0_1 Any tips pls
visproduction 315 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 I am guessing that imdb data pulls headshots of actors that are members and paid up for their annual $150 fee. I've noticed that indie actors often have either non-standard photos that are not correct head shot sizes, which may mean they are not members of imdb. I believe that promotional, non-headshots are permitted on an account without a membership. Looking at Tim's account, his main photo is not a headshot. If you look at all the actors that do not get instant headshots, it seems that all have non headshots as their main photo. Possibly not a paying member, and possibly the reason why the metadata does not get exported from imdb, unless you go in and force it by looking up an identity. I could not find an answer online, but did notice the $150 annual fee for putting up proper headshots. It seems that this is an imdb thing.
Luke 42077 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Hi we’ll take a look at it. Thanks for reporting.
Tizi1906 4 Posted October 28, 2024 Author Posted October 28, 2024 hi luke, just a quick update, i installed truenas scale and emby and seems to populate perfectly. not sure if the issue lies with truenas core or emby cheers 1
Tizi1906 4 Posted October 29, 2024 Author Posted October 29, 2024 ok spoke too soon as soon as i click on the missing image, then populates

Still need to see the server log as a fresh install should not show you broke placeholder and suggest broken paths in the database of maybe a provider issue.
Tizi1906 4 Posted October 29, 2024 Author Posted October 29, 2024 cool, no problem question; where to locate log file ?
Tizi1906 4 Posted October 29, 2024 Author Posted October 29, 2024 Log file as requested, many thanks embyserver-63865773592.zip
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 @Lukewill have to comment as we have seen this in other topics as not positive if it/was a TVDB issue as your image path is a partial broken url. This log alone shows 75 broken actor images from TVDB. System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path '/banners/v4/actor/272968/photo/6696465832f3c.jpg'. Tizi1906 4 Posted October 29, 2024 Author Posted October 29, 2024 ok cool, it seems a plugin/TVDB issue rather than emby
Luke 42077 Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Hi, can you try refreshing the metadata on the movies or series that the actor belongs to and see if that helps?
Tizi1906 4 Posted October 30, 2024 Author Posted October 30, 2024 hi, i refreshed the metadata and selected replace all images to no avail.

Tizi1906 4 Posted October 31, 2024 Author Posted October 31, 2024 sure can, as you can see, Ive setup to scan meta daily. also selected movie folder and refreshed and replace image. i also noticed that actors with no image sometimes when i click on it populates, i think its a lottery system cheers
Cadkey 54 Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 I reported the issue almost a year ago, but it was never fixed. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/122314-cast-and-crew/ Maybe a hope that it will work like before again.
Tizi1906 4 Posted November 1, 2024 Author Posted November 1, 2024 i have noticed this has been an issue for sometime after i posted.

Tizi1906 4 Posted November 1, 2024 Author Posted November 1, 2024 dashboard movies and tv shows and scheduled metadata folder at midnight. Unfortunately i dont believe its my end

Tizi1906 4 Posted November 1, 2024 Author Posted November 1, 2024 unfortunately no go, the only way that's worked for me by clicking each missing placeholder, i now have RSI!
visproduction 315 Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 On imdb, Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt and Michael Kenneth Williams all have non standard headshots, smaller faces and with part of a logo or text behind them and come from a copyright 3rd party service. These photos do not meet imdb's standards for headshots. I still think it's possible that even though Steve B is quite famous, he may not be paying for his headshot on imdb as a member. I believe they do not get forwarded as embedded image content for this reason. Also everyone of the other actors on the following image, starting with Simon Davis have no listed head shots at all. I think in these cases, you don't get what isn't available. Simple as that.
Tizi1906 4 Posted November 1, 2024 Author Posted November 1, 2024 every cast member with broken placeholder, and i manually refresh metadata, populates perfectly with image and bio ! 1
