hjason7812 34 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 So i was adding new media tonight to my server and one in particular has 3 movies and i put them into a folder named after that movie, like i normally do with more than one movie or show. Well now for some reason when i did this and scanned the section it is in, it comes up with one movie showing and when you click on it there is a drop down to pick what movie you want to watch. This was never like this before it would always show each movie seperately. So what happened with emby did you send a hidden update out to make this happen? Because i did not change a thing on my server to make this happen i went through the entire server and settings to try and figure it out but there is nothing i found that can do this that i know of. Can someone elaborate on this for me and try to figure this out please? Like the tittle says it is weird but it is very cool at the same time, because it doesn't crowd up you main menu etc like before. but it is weird that it is the only one out of all my media that has done this. If there is some secret setting to do this please tell me because i want everything to be switched over to this. I am on the nest version of emby too i think anyways 4.8.10.0 Also i have attached a screenshot of what i am talking about. Thank you

Multi-version movies You can merge movies in either of three ways: 1) Put all different files in same folder and follow naming convention for multi-version movies as per above linked KB article 2) Multi-select and select "Group Versions" in three-dot menu 3) Use community-made Auto-Grouping plugin Edited October 28, 2024 by GrimReaper 1

See below with attached screenshot of my file the way it is named. Edited October 28, 2024 by hjason7812
GrimReaper 4739 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 (edited) Actually movie series should not group like that, merging/multi-versioning is intended for multiple versions of the same movie, it is likely due to your structure/naming convention used. Quote Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ". Specific example would be required but I suspect you have those movies named same as subfolder you've placed them in and have a dash afterwards making Emby think it's a same movie and merging those movies. Yeah, if you named those movies as recommended: Night at the Museum (2006) Night at the Museum - Battle of the Smithsonian (2009) Night at the Museum - Secret of the Tomb (2014) they wouldn't be merged/multi-versioned as single/same movie but displayed as individual items in your library. You've stumbled upon a feature that is intended for different purpose, not grouping movie set movies. However, based on your description: 1 hour ago, hjason7812 said: Like the tittle says it is weird but it is very cool at the same time, because it doesn't crowd up you main menu etc like before. but it is weird that it is the only one out of all my media I'd guess that what you're actually after is grouping movies/displaying collections in your library and individual movies underneath: Library view: three-dot menu (next to Filter)>enable/tick "Group items into collections" should give you presentation you're after. Edit: @Lukethis specific issue is likely result of undocumented changes (already discussed with you by H2P and myself in PM) in order to accommodate more grouping/multi-versioning scenarios, but as usual it has unforseen consequences, as strictly speaking, those three movies should not have been multi-versioned even in present state/naming convention used (NatM had no "space-dash-space" at all, both BotS and SotT are lacking "space" before "dash"). Oh yeah ok so i am guessing the dash has made it do this then? I didn't put the dash there i left it how the blu-ray rip intended it to be except i deleted the tt0 etc stuff on the end. But the entire tittle is what it was from rip otherwise. i did back tot he future 4k rip as well yesterday and left it default tittle and deleted the end that said main feature, Dolby vision etc etc and it is in a folder too but didn't do this. also you mentioned the grouping through enabling the collection setting? that is on i have collections with my media here is a screenshot of my main page to give you an idea of what i have.. It is definitely a mystery as to why it is doing this on this one set of movies and not the others besides the dash in the tittle. but yes as i stated it is a cool thing that wasn't meant for me to enable but did on accident lol... and this should be a turn on off feature in the settings somewhere for people to use if so choose too. because it is a very rare occurance i have found and this could be a little better looking the way it is presented like have the posters in the drop down with the tittles etc. But thank you for your help 1
