Live TV Stops after a couple seconds

First thank you for years of enjoyment. Live TV on both on windows or app stops after a few seconds. I probably did something wrong. Everything worked and then APP wouldn't work unless I updated the server. After the update Live Tv would stop after a few seconds. Not certain that is the cause or just a coincidence.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Warning my knowledge on this stuff is limited.  Thank you!

Hi,

I haven't seen a Ceton InfiniTV PCIe tuner in a while. :)

I'm seeing some errors in the WMC log file as well as Emby requesting to close the stream. Emby logs show a couple different error like bad chunking, or stream not received on some playbacks.

I would try rebooting the computer with the tuner in it. Then make sure you can view TV in WMC.

If the problem is in WMC, I could suggest trying the Ceton HDHomeRun Proxy or NextPVR which might work a lot better.

HAHHAHHA. Yes I am living in the dark ages here. But until recently everything worked. I rebooted. Live TV works without issue in Windows Media Center. Ceton HDHomeRun Proxy or NextPVR would be a replacement for Server WMC Plugin? Thank you!

Thank you for the help. Are there any other resources I can try because right now it does work but only for a few seconds so I would think it can be fixed, also it worked before the Emby server update? I looked at NextPVR but the CETON setup looks very involved. I have Ceton proxy before but it stopped working. Thanks again!

If the Ceton Proxy has stopped working shouldn't your first step be trying and figure out why?  I wrote the workaround Extra for NextPVR but I've always stirred them to the Ceton Proxy.

Perhaps the real issue is with your cable card is being shut off for all or some services.  That is happening all over the US (just look at the Silicondust forum for their devices)   New cards are being distributed to some users because of the time warp bug https://www.lightreading.com/cable-technology/time-warp-could-cause-millions-of-old-powerkey-set-tops-to-go-on-the-blink and not all vendors are upgrading .

Thank you Martin. The ceton cable card works without issue on Windows Media Center. It records and does live TV. My issue is ever since Emby required me to update the server for the app to work.  Now when I use Emby for live TV it starts working then stops after a few seconds. Any suggestions? I included the logs earlier and I understand there are some errors I just wanted to see if I can resolve them. Thank you!

Sorry I really know how NextPVR works.  Did you try Ceton Proxy with NextPVR?  It used to find it as an HDHR device.   I am assuming the Ceton diagnostics aren't showing DRM on your channels.

Thank you. Emveepee

So yesterday I installed version 4 of NextPVR. It saw the 6 Ceton tuners and added the Chanels but no live tv so far. I have yet to get the guide data to work. I do have have a schedules direct account. I like the software and ots a fun project but with my limited knowledge I hope I can get it to work. Thank you!

I was suggesting using Ceton Proxy with the current version of NextPVR. since I don't think that the Emby plugin support v4.     v4 is unsupported and it doesn't include the changes that SD required for multi-use.  This will also indicate if Emby is working correctly or not.

Interesting - this is very similar to what I saw on Emby Web in Google Chrome in this forum topic here

Emby Web reading first few HLS segments and then deciding to abort

In your log - this sequence was repeated over and over where the Emby Web app stops the stream after reading the first 2 or 3 HLS segments

and the corresponding Server WMC log lines for the first playback above (at 15:03:33)

Could you try other emby client apps and see if it is the same ? eg iOS / Android apps. and also if possible Emby Web on Firefox

Emby Web 4.8.10 was running in "Microsoft Edge";v="109", "Chromium";v="109",

(There should also be ffmpeg logs to go with the embyserver log for these streaming attempts)

Emveepee,

Understood I was going to see of I could get version 4 to work independently and be able to watch remotely. I will look at Ceton Proxy tonight. I have tried the tests for the lineup and video VLC stream but both fail. The ip address on Ceton proxy matches what is on the ceton tuner. Does the 5004 ceton proxy port number have to match ceton tuners or emby? Thanks

Sa2000,

First thank you very much for looking at the logs and making sense of them! I will try it on other apps as you suggested. I have used it on my fire tv emby app and have the same experience. I will also try on my phone. I will also look into getting the ffmpeg logs. Thank you!

Remote streaming is better and more security in the current version of NextPVR but I don't understand  the second sentence but if it about v4 I won't try.  The 5004 port is the HDHR emulation nothing to do with Ceton or Emby.

Ok I got Ceton Proxy test to show a lineup of channels and also show a channel on VLC media player. Next, I removed Server WMC from Emby live TV.  I next, I went to add tv source and chose HDHomerun. It did not detect the device, so I put the Ceton Tuner Ip address in the box. It saved. But I do not get any channels. Do I need to change advanced setting on Ceton Proxy? It has the Emby guide data which worked great before. I do have a schedule direct account if necessary. Any help would be much appreciated. I also restarted Emby server after the changes.

There are two ports the web server port (80) and the streaming port (5004).  It looks like 80 isn't listening plus it looks like the documentation on Ceton Proxy is wrong, it shows 5004 for linenup.xml

Thank you Martin. What would recommend to fix the issue understanding that I have almost no clue what I am doing?

Thanks

I was able to get the current version of NextPVR to work with Ceton Proxy. Now I can use that with Emby? Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I would be lost without it. Thank you!

NextPVR can generate an M3U channel list for use by external programs.
Try setting this up in Emby without a plugin using the URL of NextPVR's M3U URL.
