Confused about the different App versions

Hi, I have Emby Theatre V3.0.20 installed from I think the Emby website. This is a very capable app that seems to play almost anything. I'm trying to help my son with his plackback issues on his Xbox and he has V1.1.574.0 which is far less capable than the V3.0.20 App and requires transcoding on quite a few files. I've also installed V1.1.574.0 from the Windows store on my laptop. What I'm trying to understand is why there are two versions of Emby Theatre for Windows on PC and only one on Xbox.

I have had progress with his playback issues as his WiFi was awful so I put in a temporary cable.Also by changing the playback quality to max in the app I have improved things. If only I could load the V3.0.20 App on the Xbox all would be fine  Essentially I'm asking "why are there two versions?"

looking at the beta testing I was hoping you were going to say that 

So the $1,000,000 dollar question is... will that be the very capable V3 or is the Xbox just not up to streaming without transcoding?
