What's the preferred way to map channels?

I'm looking to improve the channel mapping from my IPTV provider and have been manually mapping channels via Emby but i'm at a stage now where I want to export what I have an start from scratch.

I was looking to pull out the current mappings from within Emby via `/LiveTv/Manage/Channels` API but I just wanted to check what's the preferred way to identify a channel? Is the `ListingsChannelName` better than `ChannelNumber`?

Is the `tvg-id` used as the primary `id` for a channel? 

Also is there anything to query more data from gracenote for a channel?
