SenatorIvy 18 Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Noticed recently that I can't type into the emby theater search box any more, it only allows clicking the provided letters. Is this happening for anyone else? I'm on latest server and theater versions
Carlo 4561 Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 Hi, Which Emby Theater version are you referring to?
chjohans 34 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 (edited) I've noticed the same thing, and it's so "silly stupid" that I thought it was a problem somehow on my side. The search function in Emby Theater v 3.0.20 simply will not accept any input from my keyboard, so I'm forced to use the on-screen keyboard even when sitting in front of my desk with my keyboard in front of me. Running Emby Theater on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 build 26100.2161. Not sure exactly when this stopped working, but it was working just fine "a few weeks ago". I have since then upgraded my Windows installation to 24H2, cannot remember if I have not updated Emby Theater recently but I don't think so, and the current version is more than a year old. So the issue *might* be related to Windows 11 24H2, or it might be something else. Judging from this reddit post it seems like the issue has persisted for at least a month. Poorly described on reddit, but the screenshot linked shows the same issue. Care to have a look at this @Luke? Edited October 27, 2024 by chjohans

d00zah 149 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 FWIW Works for me running Windows 11 Pro 23H2 / Emby Theater 3.0.20 (non-store)?
Carlo 4561 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 I can reproduce this as well. @Luke If using Theater on a desktop you can manually change the app settings/Display/Display Mode to "Desktop" or "Mobile/Tablet". 1

If this is the fix can we get a separate switch that adjusts Emby Theater's appearance to be the horizontal large boxes style, instead of it inferring from what device we're on how it should be shown? All the displaymode stuff I have only ever changed to try and get it to look like the horizontal view. The display style vertical/horizontal doesnt seem to actually change anything.
chjohans 34 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Mine was set to Auto, seems like that made it choose the "TV" mode. Setting this to "Desktop" fixed the search issue. But, some of us have a TV with either a wireless keyboard or a combined remote/keyboard, so it would be better to have the option to enable/disable onscreen/external keyboard, independent of display type. Something to consider for the new Emby Theatre version, @Luke?

Maybe a small issue but it's really not when you use this every day. Should be a reasonably easy improvement, any change of this happening any time soon?
Luke 42078 Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Hi, this should be improved in the next update to the Emby Windows app. Thanks.
