Recovering from corrupt docker image

TL;DR - I made a lot of mistakes. Emby is built like the Toyota Hilux of media servers despite me. I've got 99 problems.

Unraid Dockers

I Hate Your Marketing, Plex

So I moved away from Plex earlier this year. Despite the occasional issue from users about file playback, I should have just left that alone. But, I reinstalled Plex in the hope of an easier (irony alert) user experience.

Anyway, Plex seemed to start up well enough for about a week until an update was made available. After installation, I could see the database corrupted and despite some effort to fix it, Plex ultimately consumed the allocated RAM space for the docker image. I picked up the pieces after Plex bottlenecked all the other dockers, corrupted the docker image, and left me with basically a mess.

Corrupted Docker Image - Picking Up The Pieces

Last night, I took this as an opportunity to set up the docker service in the directory format this time, setting it up on SSDs. Now here's the horrendous series of unforced errors, followed with a question of how best to proceed.

In my tired and panicked state, I started a move command to move my linuxserver Emby files to a larger SSD. I had always wanted to do this, but my mistake here is I should have just use the rsync command instead. I take a walk thinking this is good for my already unbalanced life.

I come back to see that the command was interrupted as my computer fell asleep. In my still tired state I end up resuming the task with the rsync command, but I end up copying files from a binhex version of Emby from late 2023. I see the task completes, I fire up Emby and things looks about the same. I move on to setting up other dockers.

Cleaning Up Sober: What Now?

As of this morning, I see Emby has been scanning the libraries and such. What it does scan plays normally. But now there's a bunch of files that are out of date, and lead to file locations that have since moved over the year.

Question: Should I just let Emby carry on and hope that it will scan the libraries to fix any missing pathways? As long as the file path is correct, Emby plays the file normally?

And there are so many screams and curses echoing in my mind upon Plex. I've spent my weekend fixing damn near everything it seems.

Do you still have your 2024 Emby setup you could copy over?
Besides other things it will have your current watch status on movies and shows.

Were you able to map the paths so they look the same to Emby Server?
If not, then Emby Server will have no choice but to rebuild the libraries assuming you input the new paths.

If you just decide to stay with the 2023 copy, at least do yourself a favor and update it to the latest version from the download page on our site.
