KUNALHAZARD 10 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I've been using Emby for 2 months, and it’s okay, but there are some dealbreakers that need fixing. I'm wondering if the Emby team plans to address these issues or if they’ll stay like this because of design choices or other reasons. Double-tap to seek forward/rewind: This is a universal feature that almost every streaming service and player supports it except Emby. It's frustrating because I always double-tap out of muscle memory to rewind quickly, and even after 2 months, I still can’t get used to Emby not having it. Will this ever be added, or is it staying like this forever? Separate config for TV and mobile clients: Emby currently syncs the home screen layout across devices, which is pretty nice, but it also syncs it with the TV client. For example, I like having the library tabs on top for the TV, where there’s more screen space, but I don’t want that on my phone since it's more compact. On mobile, I prefer just opening the hamburger menu. Metadata issue with TVDB: TVDB only pulls metadata in the original language of season name. For example, with anime, it downloads season info in Japanese only. Will the Emby for Android TV app be replaced by the standard app?: if yes, why?
visproduction 315 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 KH, Your #4 question: Standard app, do you mean the web browser Emby? If you mean that, it can be brought up on a TV, but not that easily. Most TV browsers are not good at finding an IP address. Once you are in, the TV browsers apps often cannot sroll down or across on rows of the latest movies on the Home Page. The Android TV app is much better for TV use. The Web App can be CSS style customized. There is a forum group that goes into these options: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/144-web-app-css/ I think the standard mobile styles on the Web app could be better and I am actually working on a new custom CSS release for all phone sizes and tablets. I will post it on the forum group. Everyone CSS style tastes are different. Your request in item #2 for a side hamburger menu in mobile probably requires some adjustments in .js and html templates. There is a side menu now in my web browser beta version, but trying to get that to work nicely in mobile is not something I want to do. I can get all the pages to work on mobile and tablets without the hamburger menu. Maybe that can be a request in the features forum. It might already be there.

I was asking about Emby for Android TV and the Emby for Android app (universal version). I agree the TV version is much better, but I’ve seen in a lot of posts that whenever users face issues, they're recommended to use the universal Android app. 2 hours ago, visproduction said: Your request in item #2 for a side hamburger menu in mobile probably requires some adjustments in .js and html templates. As for my second request, I think there was a misunderstanding. I wasn’t asking for a better hamburger menu, just saying that it works fine for quickly accessing libraries without needing an extra row. But on TV, having that extra row is kinda needed to access libraries faster. The only improvements I really want for the phone app are double-tap to seek (desperately need that!) and removing the downloads row from the second row(optional). 1
