Totally lost - emby can't pick up my movies and tv shows

Hi all,

I've had to move over to Linux Mint for my OS after using windows to run an Emby server easily for years. Predictably it's been a total nightmare to get anything to work.

I have large hard disk full of movies, but I can't figure out how to give permission to Emby to scan them. PLEASE don't tell me to do ten thousand different things in Terminal -I've read the stickied thread and it makes no sense to me. Isn't there just a way to give permission to emby to access the files through GUI. I had thought Linux was easy to use nowadays.

Alright so finally got around this by playing about, very easily. For those in the future just as frustrated here's my solution.

1. Click the Menu button on the desktop (bottom left corner of the screen - where the windows button normally is on a windows operating system)

2. In the search bar type "disks"

3. The app "disks" will appear. Left-click on it.

4.On the Disks window. On the left side you will see all the disks. Left-click on the one that you have your movies/tv shows/whatever on.

5. Left click on the volume that you have your movies/tv shows/whatever on.

6. Left-click the cog/gear icon.

7. Left-click 'Edit Mount Options'

8. The 'User Session Defaults' slider will be to the right. Left-click it to move it to the left.

9. Hit O.K.

10. The drive should remount with a new mountpoint that starts with /mnt/

11. In the file explorer gui. Go to your files and copy and paste the new location into emby. It should scan as normal.
