Jay1911 7 Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I have one movie in 4K that for some reason the Firestick 4K Max will play but only plays audio - the video is black and the Emby interface is also completely gone during play back. Pushing buttons on the remote will allow me to skip ahead, skip back, play/pause but nothing I do will show the emby interface on screen while the movie playing. Video attached. 20241015_185006(1).mp4
rbjtech 5284 Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 It's likely a 4K hevc DV/HDR10+ file ? If yes, then it's a known issue with the SoC on the 4K Max FireTV device (and others). Either remove the HDR10+ (leaving DV/HDR10) or remove the DV (leaving HDR10/HDR10+) - there are tools online to do this.

If this is a known issue then I'm going to assume this is what it is but can you tell me how to check if its specifically an HDR10+ file? I have plenty of files that show exactly like they do in my video and show up like this in Emby and lots of them work fine on the same device but it doesnt say anything about HDR10+ or whatever so I'm not sure about that part. The file name also does not say HDR10+. The reason I thought it might be an emby issue is that the interface for emby is missing also, not sure a black video.
rbjtech 5284 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 (edited) Install MediaInfo to get the full details for the file (emby does not show HDR10+ files at the moment). It will mention DV and HDR10+ Full details on the issue here - https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-androidtv/issues/2630 I belive Kodi have resolved/bypassed the issue - but Emby/JF and I think Plex have not. Ok well good to know. Hopefully since Kodi is open source the others can borrow their methodology for fixing the issue
