Just highlighting the guide option from the menu bar causes it to crash. Thanks. I can't see any obvious issues and I can't reproduce it. Is your server setup to allow remote access? If it is and you want to, you can create a limited account for me with guide access and send me the details via PM and I can try and debug it remotely. It might be the only way we can resolve this one.
Grocerybill 5 Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 Will do. I’ll try to get it done tonight. 2
Grocerybill 5 Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 @DarkStar1977my issue was a result of the apple tv itself. i had to reset my Apple TV to get it clear out whatever was wrong and now everything seems to be working properly. It’s a pain but, if you’re still having issues it could be a solution for you. 1
DarkStar1977 119 Posted January 19, 2025 Author Posted January 19, 2025 @Grocerybillthanks for sharing, but it's so strange. Apple OS (iOS, iPadOS, TVOS) is built on applications self-containarized, this means every application is isolated from the OS and other applications, it's in it's own container. This design is for security reasons, to avoid that a malicious application can get information from other applications and the OS itself, unless your Apple TV is jailbroken, removing the application (emby in this case), will erase all the data related to emby in your Apple TV. So removing and reinstalling emby must solve the issues the same way you did it by reseting your AppleTV, without all the headaches related to reinstall all other applications and reconfigure it. I have deployed on my AppleTV Infuse Pro, and this even accessing the emby server as multimedia provider does not has any of the mentioned issues. I will not reset my AppleTV having to reinstall the +20 applications I have having to configure all them just for making a test, that by the design of Apple TV OS has no sense to do. For the record, I've tried to remove and reinstall emby and the issues persist, something from 1.8.8. version is causing this malfunction that is not present in Infuse.

Grocerybill 5 Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 @DarkStar1977i thought the same thing but uninstalling/reinstalling didn’t fix it. I think there is something in the settings or a repository like cache that persists. I’d bet there is something related to data access that doesn’t get configured correctly and remains even if the app is removed. For example it remembered my server so I didn’t have to locate it when I reinstalled so it was remembering something.

If you haven't already, I would fully uninstall the app, power of the ATV for a few minutes and reinstall. As far as I'm aware, not one else is seeing these crashes in the current version. Are you also on the latest tvOS version?

I've tried to uninstall emby, reboot apple TV to clear cache, reinstall it several times, in each new version since 1.8.8. and the issues persist ...
Grocerybill 5 Posted February 9, 2025 Posted February 9, 2025 Have you reset the Apple TV? Nothing I did worked until I did that. No issues since.
Luke 42077 Posted March 13, 2025 Posted March 13, 2025 HI, please try Emby for Apple TV 1.9.5 and let us know how things compare. Thanks !
