Dragon1013 3 Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 On my LGTV. I can only pause live TV. I cannot fast forward or rewind using the EMBY app LG 1.0.44. I have searched all of the settings and cannot find any way to change this. Is this just limitations of the app Or am I missing something?
Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

When I push forward or back on the shuttle wheel the live playing show just jumps and continues to play without moving forward or back in the timeline but I can pause and only on LG 1.0.44 not on all my other devices. I didn't see a way to get a logfile for this app?

Dragon1013 3 Posted October 15, 2024 Author Posted October 15, 2024 After messing with it more it looks like to make it go back or forward I have to enable the air mouse on the remote the click on the forward or rewind icons on the bottom right of the screen. on other devices hitting forward or back on the ring around the ok button controls the FF REW
Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Hi, we'll take a look at this. Thanks for reporting.
Dragon1013 3 Posted October 15, 2024 Author Posted October 15, 2024 Also while watching a recording of live tv there are no shuttle controls at all.
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 it could be very helpful if Emby would implement "future viewing" where you FF into the future and thereby get things from sports scores before the matches end to Mega-millions numbers before the drawing. It would be very handy and I could use the cash. Actually I do not ever even try to use trick play on live TV but I think it either should work or there should be a message, like I see on some streaming services, saying the trick play is not available on this video at this time. I do not see a need for trick play on live TV currently recording (except for viewing the future) but others seem to feel differently. 1

Dragon1013 3 Posted October 16, 2024 Author Posted October 16, 2024 like I said before on all other versions of emby I use the directional wheel that is around the ok ok button but on this perticular version it does nothing when playing live tv or recorded live tv.
Dragon1013 3 Posted October 17, 2024 Author Posted October 17, 2024 I should probably add. that I'm using the same remote with both situations Either the shield or the TV itself.
Luke 42077 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 HI, this is resolved for the next update to Emby for LG. Thanks.
TheShanMan 40 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 I didn't catch the "LG" part. I'm experiencing this in Theater for Windows. Will the fix apply there as well?
warrencalvert 16 Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 Hi Luke I'm also having this issue with live TV. I can pause live TV but cannot skip backwards or forwards - when I try, nothing happens it just keeps playing. This affects players on both Android and Nvidia Shield. Am I missing something or has this still not been implemented yet? Thanks

warrencalvert 16 Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 Hi Luke I know you have to prioritise development efforts but I've been using Emby now for 5 years and this is probably the biggest issue for me. Recording live TV works great along with playing back recordings. But watching live TV as it is being broadcast has never worked well - not being able to rewind is greatly missed. I did see that you added this feature to Android TV many years ago but still not Android or NVidia Shield. However I did try rewinding and fast forwarding live TV on Android TV and playback often just freezes. So still not great there either. Do you have a timescale for working on this? I keep optimistic but after 5 years I fear it will never get to the top of your ever growing to-do list
mwkelly 0 Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 I have this issue with my Firestick if I use the new Android app, however, it is not an issue with Emby for Fire TV. I like the new app but being able to rr and ff is important.

warrencalvert 16 Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 Hi Luke Thanks for the tip, that works! Wish I'd known about this a few years ago One minor bug which you're probably aware of. When fast forwarding, if you FF past the current live position it keeps going. Then the display pauses until the broadcast catches up with where you've fast forwarded to! Ideally it should stop FF when you get to the current live position. 2 1
djtheraven 0 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 One more issue Yes the MPEGTS fixes the seek problem with live TV but makes the audio off just a tiny bit. Why do we have to force a transcode just to have fast forward and rewind features in live TV? And I do have the same issue or if you go past the current marker you have to wait for the video to catch up for it to start playing again. Seems very strange that this hasn't been fixed.
