Failed to transcode 4k file, with no status of playback on Dashboard

I have a video encoded at 4k 10bit HDR h265. On 2 occasions now I have tried playing it on 2 different clients (Firefox web app, NV Shield Emby app) and its behavior was as follows:

  • Client: Would sit on the initial loading/buffering screen forever.
  • Server: On the Dashboard there was no active user playback/transcode activity in the UI.

I grabbed the logs during this as attached - I refreshed the ffmpeg log a few times whilst the above was occurring and I could see it was still transcoding the media.

Eventually on the client I went back and played the same video again (from the start each time) and it worked fine.

Hi,
It looks like you're playing an HDR 10 file but don't have tone mapping enabled.

Can you try enabling that and trying to play it back again?
Try it in Edge Browser and also on the ShieldTV.

I didn't see any playback from the ShieldTV in your logs.
