Autostart EmbyServer (Flatpak)

I have Linux Mint 21 on my pc. I installed the emby flatpak. I can not make a native install. And I don't know how to install embyr in a docker. So I have to use the flatpak emby.

Now it was my understanding that emby autostarts. But it doesn't. To start the emby service I have to click EMBY in my start menu. Then EMBY opens in my Firefox browser.  And then I see in my task manager a service called "EmbyServer". When I now close Firefox then I see in my task manager that "EmbyServer" is still running.

But how can I autostart "EmbyServer"?

Of course I can enable EMBY in my  "start programs". But I want to start "EmbyServer" without starting Firefox.

You should be able to add any command to run at startup in Preferences -> Startup Applications. The particular command for the emby server flatpak is `flatpak run media.emby.EmbyServer`.

The command is working, but still firefox is opening and has to be closed manually. Finally not a satisfying solution. Aren't there any settings in a config-file to prevent that behaviour?

Hi, have you explored the options in Emby Server settings?

Yes, but couldn't find a setting I could recognize to this.
As you are the developer(s) of this, I was hoping that your could tell us be heart where to click 😉

You won't be able to control that from within Emby.Instead, but we can add an argument to the flatpak script to prevent automatically lauching a web browser. Will let you know when it's available, most likely in the next beta.

That sounds like a great solution. Thanks a lot.

I installed the latest beta 4.9.0.33, but couldn't find the setting you mentioned. Did I miss it?

Thanks for pointing me to the right place.

Go here to turn it on.  It will always open a browser window when Linux starts though.  Have not figured out how to start it without it doing that.

Hi. Was this flatpak argument ever added to Emby?

I too would like to prevent my browser from opening when the server starts up. I haven't been able to see anything about it elsewhere on the forum.

HI, that's different from what's being discussed here and can be configured in server settings.

Exactly where?

Starting from your Emby Server dashboard, click into the General section on the life sidebar under the Server heading.

Can I ask about this setting as well?

Server > General section doesn't contain any checkbox for not starting a browser at launch.

I'm running the flatpak version v4.8.11.0 (via Startup Applications) on Linux Mint

Then it's not a supported feature on your platform. The server is not opening the web app, but it's possible the Flatpak package might be doing that. Does Flatpak have any options to control that?
