How do I delete "Collections" from Library?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Yes, this was asked before:

and the solution at the time:

However if I shutdown Emby and then delete the "Collections" folder as suggested, on restarting the App, Collections re-appear.

There is no "Collections" folder on the disk and I'm stuck.

I have zero items in collections.

I also deleted:

  C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\metadata\collections

after stopping and restarting Emby

Any ideas?

Either you have this enabled in your library.

Or Collections are in your nfo files.

Have you followed all the steps listed in the solution post? As it sounds you haven't, deleting collections folder from your OS will not suffice - it'll only enable Collections library to be listed as Mixed-type, and you have to delete/remove it from Settings>Library.

Many thanks. I tried following the following:

 Restart Emby, go to Setting-Library, now the Collection library should be Mixed Content type and have the option to Delete/Remove the library.

But I don't get this option. Just "Edit" and "Edit Images"

Now turned off.

Where are these nfo files? Can I manually edit or delete them?

Nfo files should be besides your media files.

After a search of all ".nfo" files in the media folder, I can see a total of 80 nfo files that include the word "collection"

They all have two similar lines, by way of example:

Line 16: <collectionnumber>64751</collectionnumber>

Line 268:  <set>Crank Collection</set>

There is no data that pertains to the "Collections".

If I deleted all of these, would the issue go away? This is all very frustrating.

Also look for this

<set tmdbcolid="9485">
    <name>The Fast and the Furious Collection</name>
</set>

Many thanks, none of the nfo files have the text "colid" in them.

242 have a line starting with "<tmdbid>"

<tmdbid> is an identifier for the movie, you dont want to delete that.

Look for

tmdbcolid

I have searched all the nfo files and the text "tmdbcolid" isn't in any file.

I've checked and the date of these nfo files is 2018 to 2020. This has been used with a Jellyfin and plex some years ago. I guess the files might be a relic.

However 300 files include lines like:

  <art>
    <poster>D:\Emby\DVDs\MacGyver\poster.jpg</poster>
  </art>

Which is not the current folder for the file and movie in question.

Should I delete these. I guess I can always reinstate them from the recycle bin!

You could try.

But there is a risk of Emby not identifying them after.

That depends on you naming Movie Naming of you folders and movies.

Remember to do a library scan and Metadata refresh after.

To see the result.

All the *.nfo files on the on the media hard disk were deleted.

I restarted Emby and it all works but the collections folder is still present.

Strangely I scanned the disk for nfo files and there aren't any.

I don't understand what is going on.

Right click on another folderimage.png.a4aff215f2535c81748eda93fb1defdc.png

What do you need to see?

Assuming no collections exist, it is mentioned at the end of the guide.
