Audiobook resume point

Hi,

Maybe this isn't the right place to post this? Please move if there is a better place for it.

I have EMBY server on my synology NAS and I have emby on my Nvidia Shield which I'm using to play content from the NAS.

Just created a small library of audio books in an audiobook library.

Can't get resume points to work inthe Shield app for some reason. My books are in M4B format as one long file with chapter markers. I've set the min resume point to 1% on the server, which, for the book I am currently listening to is approx. 5.24 mins (It's an 8.45 hour book). Are there any other settings I need to change?  Every time I go back to the book it starts from the beginning. Also, the next/previous track button are greyed out and I can't fast forward.

If I open emby on my laptop all seems fine. Is this an android issue on the shield maybe? Is there any setting I need to change on the shield app?

@ebrCan you elaborate on this?

Hi,

Another small thing. Whilst playing in my browser (Windows 11),  it is possible to see a list of chapters, but this doesn't seem possible in the android app. Maybe its a limitation of the app?

Hi there, where are you looking for it in the android app?

Hi Luke,

Hope you're well?

OK, I'll give you 2 examples with screenshots to try and illustrate what I mean:

1. Via Windows on my laptop:

MyMedia/Audio books

 Select book

If I select the smaller image below the large one:

Windows

I see all of the chapters:

Chapters

I can select any chapter and it will start from there. Going back into it later, selecting resume, and it will continue exactly from where I left off.

2. Android app on Nvidia Shield:

MyMedia/Audio books

 Select book

I see this:

Shield

Apart from the play controls, there is a single line with the name of the book, I don't see any chapters.

If I select the title It gives me an option to either 'Play From Here' or 'Play'. Whichever I select it starts from the beginning.

If I select 'Resume' from the player controls it starts from the beginning.

Whilst the book is playing. the next and last track buttons are greyed out and I cannot ship forward/backward with the Right/Left buttons on my remote as I can do with every other type of media.

Shield 2

Maybe it just isn't possible on the android/Shield app or maybe I've missed some setting somewhere?

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.

Hi Luke,

I've redownloaded the emby for Android app - That is the one I'm currently using. Exactly the same behaviour as I've described.

Ah, OK, I've downloaded Emby for Android from google. It is showing the different chapters etc, but I can't test it as its saying I need to have EMBY Premiere to unlock the feature. Oh well, never mind.

Hi, are you sure it's not just a banner for Premiere?
Did you actually try and play it?

Hi,

If I go into my audiobook library and select a title to play, this popup appears (see photos attached).

I've just noticed that its happening for all libraries - Movies, TV, Music etc.

Hi Luke,

Yes it is.

When you use the Emby for Android on the ShieldTV, you can playback files.
When you use "Emby" on the ShieldtTV, you get the Premiere message correct

Have you had the Emby for Android app installed on the ShieldTV for less than 2 weeks or longer?

Hi Carlo,

Please see my responses above in red.

I think you can play with Emby for Android as it's running in a free trial mode when you don't have Premiere.
I was thinking it was 2 weeks, but I don't recall specifics.
That would explain why you can play in one but not the other.
