Detail4687 3 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 I've been having this issue for a few months now with Emby subtitle son both a Roku TV (TCL) and a Roku Ultra standalone streamer. For some movies and TV shows I can't get my English subtitles to display properly when streaming to my roku TVs or my Roku Ulrta, though they work perfectly when casting Emby to my various Google Chromecasts, using Google TV Emby app or playing directly in web browser. Here's what I've discovered after many hours of troubleshooting is that if I use a tool such as MVKToolNix and turn OFF the flag; "forced display" then it works! I have been doing this file-by-file for many shows, but I wondering if there is something in the Emby Roku app I can fix, or is this is problem with Roku itself?
Luke 42077 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Solution ebr 16169 Posted October 12, 2024 Solution Posted October 12, 2024 Hi. Yes, it is an issue with the Roku player. What you want to make sure of is that no tracks are set as forced and default and that you don't have more than one track set as default. The Roku player has trouble if there is anything off in the track flags. 1

Do you happen to know of an easier way to turn off those flags on a multitude of files?

You can do it in bulk batches using JMkvpropedit. You may need to do different shows separately if there are multiple subtitles, because the position of the forced and other subtitles varies.
