mz_online 3 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Hello everybody, Two days ago I received the new Google TV Streamer which was launched less than two weeks ago. The problem that I have encountered with Emby is the audio doesn't work on any played formats. I found a temporary workaround the issue but is not viable because my wife and I don't want to do the procedure every time. This is what is happening: 1. Install Emby 2.1.21g or the beta version 2.2.22 (mine is registered, Emby Premiere) 2. Try to play any video file with any audio encoding. So far I have tried video file with MP3, AC3 5.1, AC3 Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos 5.1, Dolby Soround, Dolby Prologic II audio track. Most of my videos have MP3 audio tracks. 3. No sound whatsoever 4. Don't close Emby app or don't stop the video. Keep pressed Home button from the TV Streamer remote for 2-4 seconds to display quick access settings 5. In TV Streamer settings go to Display and Sound -> Advanced Sound Settings -> Select Formats. 6. Toggle between any of the options there (between Automatic, None and Manual... any of them) 7. Go back to the video and restart it. Now the audio works as long you don't exit Emby. In case you exit Emby application you have to repeat every time the steps above. This is very annoying. I also have these application installed on my TV Streamer and all of them are working very good without any audio problems: YouTube, Netflix, Prime, Disney, Tidal, ABC iView, Stan. Only Emby makes troubles. I tried to clear the cache, uninstall and install different versions but without success. No other audio "enhancing" options are active. Emby application Playback Settings -> Audio Output options doesn't do anything and doesn't matter which option you use. Only Streamer settings solves the problem temporarily. Until two days ago I had a Chromecast with Google TV 4K that worked without flaw in the past four years. Does any of you found something similar happening with Emby on Google TV Streamer?
Luke 42077 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
mz_online 3 Posted October 12, 2024 Author Posted October 12, 2024 I did this already. Currently I am using Emby for Android that it works very well. Just Emby for Android TV has issues. I would like to use Emby for Android TV as before because the interface is much handier. 2

mz_online 3 Posted October 13, 2024 Author Posted October 13, 2024 Hi Luke. I will answer you a bit later because there is quite a lot to write and take comparison screenshots. Now I am busy and I have to run. Now the most important thing is, can you replicate my bug report? Do you have a Google TV Streamer to test my report? Is this a bug and will this be resolved soon? Thanks
Solution mz_online 3 Posted October 14, 2024 Author Solution Posted October 14, 2024 Today I was able to resolve the problem by buying an HDMI audio extractor and using an extra audio cable from the extractor to my stereo system. Not all HDMI extractors are working but Tendak 4K x 2K HDMI Audio Extractor Converter works with Chromecast and TV Steamer: https://amzn.asia/d/bCTKfgi I will stay with this setup until the issue is resolved. Thanks anyway for your time. 1
