Hi.

I have been struggling to get photos to display and I don't know what I am missing.
Nothing I do seems to show them.

I am running 9.9.0.30 on Synology 7.2.2
I have a photos folder I have tired with a JPG, PNG and HEIC and in Emby it dos not show anything
Library is Home Movies & Photos
I even tried enabling Camera Upload, It uploaded a few photos and they don't show up either.

I have restarted, I have don't multiple scans, I have checked permissions and the folder has Emby r/w
Everything else works great, all the movies shows, but it just won't pick up any photos.
When I look at the folders, it's just shows as empty .

Am I missing something dump.

Did you the check box "Enable photos" in the library settings?

Sorry should have added that, yes enable photos is ticked.

@CarloYep, confirmed again to be sure and Emby has read/write access
I even doubled checked by going to file manager and checking the permissions of a folder that had photos in it and Emby has R/W access.

I also don't have Synology Photos installed either.

Please perform a library refresh, then up when finished upload your Emby Server log for us to look at.

Thanks

Hi, can you show screenshot examples of what you see in the Emby web app? Thanks.

Here is the folder from the scan.

It is one I am using to do my testing on.

Here is the folder in the Synology Nas

And just confirmed Emby has R/W permission.

Let me know if that helps.

"Camera Roll" almost got me, as there is a feature in Emby to automatically upload pics from some clients. :)

Please enable the check box above "Apply to this folder, sub-folders and files" then do a library refresh.
The files themselves might not have proper permissions.
Synology is picky about file & group ownership as well as access rights.

If the media still doesn't show up go the Logs menu, then settings tab and enable debug logging.
Do another library refresh and upload the server log file again.
You can turn debug logging off again.

Your not going crazy. This was originally done via the camera upload on the iphone app.

I have other directories that were just normal ones with jpgs in them, nothing was working so I gave this a go to see if the pictures were showing up.

Let me reset all the permission and I will try again.

I turn debug on and ran a scan, attached is the log.

I didn't see a library scan in the log.

How are you running the library scan?

yea that seemed odd to me also.

I am going to Library and clicking the 3 dots and hitting scan library files

Could the san not be working for this library type.

I have created the library a few times now but it never populates with anything.

Hi, what folder paths are added to each of the 4 libraries?

Posted

@Luke I had a couple of other test libraries in there.
So I have removed them now so that it is clean.

There is now 2 libraries and one collection
I have one for movies that I am testing and this one I am using to see if I can get images will show.
Everything sits under my test folder System Stuff

OK this type of setup is not supported. You’ve got a parent folder setup with the movies content type and a subfolder as home videos. This is the reason for the issue.

@Luke
so I can't have all my content in one folder structure , I have to break up different parent folders for different content?

For different content types, yes. The easiest thing to do would be /system stuff/movies

You could have something like:

/Volume1/Media
/Volume1/Media/Movies
/Volume1/Media/TV
/Volume1/Media/Photos
/Volume1/Media/Music

You could then use each of the subfolder for the proper corresponding library.
What you can't do is use /Volume1/Media in any library because it would have subfolders under it that are part of another library.

Make sense?

Once I broke the different library types into their own folders it worked.
Appreciate the help getting this resolved.
