auto organize sorting wrong

Recommended Posts

I will start by saying I love emby.  I have been using the server for year and even have the license.  I also have very little negative I can say about auto organize.  I do wish there was an easy way to create a smart match other than upon failure of finding a match.

The issue I have currently with auto organize has been going on since early February I believe and only with 1 TV show.  Recently started again with the new seasons starting.  The issue is with Law & Order.  It is the one odd show that is older that Law & Order SVU but has less seasons.  Auto Organize will also find Law & Order and sort it to a past season of SVU.  Until a few years ago I have not been an avid watcher of any Law & Order but I got back in to it and it is a regular now.  Issue is I use kodi running on a raspi and use janitor to clean my library.  I don't have it delete the files but move them.  Janitor sees that I watched season 24E01 of Law & Order SVU and moves it within 12 hours.  Hassle to change the file name and have it sorted again.

Is there a way for me to create a smart match not just upon failure of finding a match?  Is there a way to have something added to auto organize that says "this file doesn't contain SVU, so I won't organize to the SVU folder"?

Thoughts?  Suggestions other that changing the behavior of janitor on kodi?

What info would you like for me to add?

  • If you saw error messages, please tell us what they were. If the problem is difficult to explain, please include screenshots that demonstrate the issue.
  • Please attach the server log from the time frame the activity occurred. See the section below titled Emby Server Logs. Please supply the full and complete log file, and avoid attempting to extract relevant sections. Everything is relevant to us. When you attach the log, please also discuss what actions you took, and what the results were.

This is the best explanation I can give. I was downloading law & Order svu and when the original law & Order came back, I started downloading that. Problem is, auto organize sees the law & Order svu a few seasons ahead and any time it sees a law & Order (original) show, it organizes the episode under law & Order svu.  Doesn't matter if I fix it manually by moving the files, it continues and I have to fix it any time a law & Order is on.

Law & Order took some time off and is in season 24.

Svu is in season 26.

I've added the log file.  It is on line 1314 at 2024-11-22 01:16:59.893.  I can shorten it down to just the immediate time around then if you would like.  Edited the file to remove my username and ip addresses

Do you have both shows in your library?

Yes.  After each time it sorts incorrectly, I move the one to the correct show and season.  Picture

@ampakalthis is just a tricky case because the series in your library are "Law & Order", but the episode files are named with & instead of "and".

So the server tries to find an existing series in your library for "law.and.order". That comes up with nothing, so then it tries to use tvdb. And tvdb's search engine is returning SVU as the first result.

That's why this is happening in this particular case. We'll have to see what options we have to improve this.
