Guest Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) Hello, I'm experiencing an issue when I start playing a movie that requires transcoding. Sometimes the playback stops and then resumes, but this happens quite frequently. I don't understand why this is occurring. I've tested this on an iPhone, and my server has an i7-14700 CPU, but I'm using the integrated GPU (iGPU) for transcoding. Here are the relevant logs: (It should be noted that this test was carried out specifically with the film “Beetlejuice” (2024).) ffmpeg-transcode-3e089ea0-77db-479b-bcdf-4659ee06419e_1.txt embyserver (1).txt Edited October 8, 2024 by Dydhzo film name
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Did you set the client to 1Mbps or is Auto setting it that Low? 2024-10-08 19:32:54.682 Info App: Bitrate exceeds DirectPlay limit: media bitrate: 5066388, max bitrate: 1000000 2024-10-08 19:32:54.682 Info App: Bitrate exceeds DirectStream limit: media bitrate: 5066388, max bitrate: 1000000 But since this is using a remote connection could it not be a network issue itself?

Mais puisque cela utilise une connexion à distance, cela ne pourrait-il pas être un problème de réseau lui-même? No, because it works without a problem when it's not transcoding, but when it is transcoding it sometimes even stops very often. If you want, I can give you a try.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 4 hours ago, Dydhzo said: No, because it works without a problem when it's not transcoding But that is the issue as it can not Direct Play per TranscodeReasons=ContainerBitrateExceedsLimit. So If you did no set a bitrate that means AUTO is applying a extremely low bitrate and thought all clients had a higher hardcoded bitrate than that. @ebr AndroidTv 2.1.21g So if you set to something besides AUTO does the same thing happen?

It's me who manually changed the quality on my iPhone, same on Android TV. So yes, it's normal that it's transcoding, but I don't understand why it bugs when it transcodes. With any quality that requires transcoding, it bugs, but in direct play there's no problem at all.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Have your tried using QuickSync instead of VAAPI?

What do you advise me to do? Should I deactivate all VAAPI options, or leave them activated and put QuickSync first everywhere? What's exactly the best option?

At a minimum you would do HEVC decoder and H264 encoder. But all codecs you are doing to test you will need to ensure those decoders are set also. HEVC encoder is not being used in this scenario do it does not matter.

I don't understand where the problem is. I even tried to set the temporary transcoding path on the RAM, it's still the same. I have no more ideas on how to solve the problem.

Even with normal subtitles, it works fine. But when forced subtitles are activated, it bugs out... I don't understand why this happens or how to solve this problem. The subtitles are in SubRip format.
Carlo 4560 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Hi, The log file you sent doesn't appear to be using any subs. It also appeared to be transcoding fine.

It only happens with forced subtitles, even if they don't appear. For example, it happens with the movie Beetlejuice 2024: at 3 minutes, it stops and then resumes. But when I deactivate the forced subtitles, there's no problem at all. ffmpeg transcode Beetlejuice 2024 : ffmpeg-transcode-9aa89ce9-c76f-49f5-958b-25a93edb9320_1.txt
