How do you use the Auto Organize plugin?

I saw this message in my logs when I was looking for something else.

Folder /data/movies is not eligible for auto-organize because it is also part of an Emby library

The watch paths should not be part of your libraries. Think of them as staging areas where you can dump new media files for the plugin to identify, name and put in the right library for you. The plugin is not for organizing existing media in your libraries.

Huh, that's odd.

So if I want to use it I have to remove the current movies, put them in a staging location then point the plugin to that location for it to then scan them and then import and move them into a Library? That seems like a very convoluted process when the data is already in an existing library.

Hi, that is correct. It is designed to help bring new content into your library, not move it around.

I'm not trying to move it around but add certain movies to a box-set type of display.

OK Auto-Organize does not create boxsets. Are you looking to create boxsets based on MovieDb collections?

Yes, I am looking to do something like this with Emby. I am moving away from Jellyfin.

OK. Collections in Emby are not based on file and folder structure. You can create movie collections manually:

Collections

When movie metadata is downloaded, the collections can also be created automatically depending on your library settings.
