tp546 41 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Hi all, it's been a while since I've had to log into my server instance but I tried last week and it gives me the prompt to create a user as though I'm setting up a brand new server. My server is still running and when I log in to the emby app from any of my devices, it shows all my users and everything functions as expected. How can I successfully access my configuration?
Carlo 4561 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Hi, This sounds like the browser is getting tripped up and redirecting to a server config page that is used during initial setup but it's hard to say at this point. What browser are you using? Have you tried clearing the browser cache? Something you could try is switching to an InPrivate or (Edge), Incognito (Chrome), Private Window (Firefox) to see if it does it this way? You could try a different browser as well. If using a different browser or "private" browsing and it works correctly, it's very likely to be an old, cached page that's stuck for your Emby Server or similar. You should be able to clear the browser cache. This could have different names depending on the browser but is called "Clear browsing data now" which you can search for from the settings menu of the browser. Hope that helps, Carlo
tp546 41 Posted October 7, 2024 Author Posted October 7, 2024 Hi Carlo, I'm using Chrome. I tried clearing the cache, using an incognito window and opening in Microsoft edge, but I get the same result everywhere.
pwhodges 2012 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Sounds like you have more than one Emby server installation and are accessing different ones. Paul

Paul I'm about 98 percent sure that's not true. I have one icon in the system tray on the server machine and when I use that to restart the server, it's inaccessible to client devices for a few minutes.

Hi, when you use the tray icon to open the web interface, what do you see?

Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 What platform? But will guess you will have to step through the startupwizard again unless you can get to the system.xml and reset the <IsStartupWizardCompleted>true</IsStartupWizardCompleted> flag with Emby shutdown. But something is obviously interfering with the existing install.
Luke 42079 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 You can also just step through the wizard quickly without making any changes.

When I try to go through the wizard, it asks me to create a new user - what should I be doing there?

Not sure how then as only way for the wizard to appear is with it being false. Since you say it works on other devices, what devices? Can you login with your admin user and go to Dashboard and click the three dot menu and ensure it is pointing to the same install location you are checking? 4 hours ago, tp546 said: When I try to go through the wizard, it asks me to create a new user - what should I be doing there? Personally I would just create a NEW admin user and continue on then once complete delete that new user assuming all was good with previous install as the wizard should bring up all the already configured libraries also. I've got it up now - just created a new user and everything seemed to restore itself. Now I just have to confirm I can access remotely. 1

tp546 41 Posted October 8, 2024 Author Posted October 8, 2024 Can't get emby connect working now. I put my username in under my user settings and it was accepted but I can't connect outside my network.
tp546 41 Posted October 8, 2024 Author Posted October 8, 2024 I see my server in the list, but it won't connect to it.

What happens if you manually type the URL in a browser, like this: http://IP:Port For example, if your Emby Server IP is 192.168.0.60 and you're using the standard Emby port of 8096 you would enter http://192.168.9.60:8096 Does this allow you to login normally? 19 hours ago, tp546 said: Can't get emby connect working now. If so, you don't need to use Emby Connect as you can log in directly using the format above in a browser or by specifying the IP and Port in an Emby client app.

No, I'm trying to test it at home by turning off my wifi and using my cell network but it won't connect.

It's important to check this to make sure your external IP is available on the Internet and not behind a CG-NAT.
