RLanger7228 73 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 I am converting a large video library to Emby on my Synology NAS 718+. I created a new shared folder called "EmbyServer" to contain all my Emby configuration data, metadata, etc (for easier backup). I successfully changed the metadata path to \VOLUME1\EmbyServer in Settings, as shown in the screenshot. However, I do not see a similar option for the other paths. Is there a way I can tell Emby to use my shared folder for the path(s) to save the other configuration data? When I looked up "configuration Backup", I found a knowledge base article discussing both the backup plugin (requiring a subscription) and a manual backup process. The manual backup described searching for the folders (in the screenshot) & simply copying them. However, when I searched my NAS, I couldn't find any of these folders (nor when I searched my laptop). On the NAS, I tried search all shared folders, I tried search all homes, both with all sub-folders active. Where are the Emby system files physically stored?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 To my knowledge it is not possible on the platform and is all done in the package build. @FrostByte@Carlo
RLanger7228 73 Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 OK. It may not be possible to re-define those paths in Emby. However, the Knowledge Base on Manual Backup of configuration settings says to copy files from those folders. How can I at least find those folders to copy the files?
Carlo 4560 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 You would shh into the server, then su to gain admin access to the file system. A trick you can do to get this in the gui is to create a new share, then setup a remote share under this new share. You then map this remote share to a path on the server like those shown in your picture above. Carlo 1
