tonyhage 1 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Hello, I recently switched from Plex to Emby primarily for LiveTV (via M3U) capabilities. So far, experience has been good except for streaming Live TV to my ROKU devices. Extremely slow to load and constant buffering and streaming ending abruptly. Streaming on other devices (iOS, Windows) seems to be a much better experience. 1) Any guidance on setting optimization for either my server (running on a dedicated windows machine) or Roku device\client? 2) Assuming log files will help, how\where do I submit? Thanks!
ebr 16169 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
tonyhage 1 Posted October 8, 2024 Author Posted October 8, 2024 Thanks. Finally had a chance to work on this. Logs are attached and I also initiated a log send from my ROKU device. Let me know if anything I should be doing different! ffmpeg-transcode-a1ee25b8-cf23-4e76-a166-220c9c3d1b23_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-f2fd30d3-506c-4f7a-a293-f36a12da624d_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-01c3892c-f7ae-4023-9b2c-1544f03da460_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-5ceada2a-d48d-4655-8c2c-640496d9cbea_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-6bc00116-a17f-4500-ae71-4c1940f89332_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-8d8738ff-4cbd-436c-a176-392984754922_1.txt embyserver.txt
ebr 16169 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 All transcoding attempts appear to be failing. May need @Lukeor @softworkzto take a look.
griam01 14 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 I have same issue with Roku and some streams and my issues has been going on for months.
tonyhage 1 Posted October 10, 2024 Author Posted October 10, 2024 Checking back in to see if any guidance here... When this works, it is a great experience, unfortunately, seems like it only works around 25% of the time.

AmericanMike 17 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 (edited) Hi, I went through some issues in the beginning trying to live stream to my multiple Roku models as well but now its work "pretty good", not perfect yet but still enjoyable. Here are some things I had to do.... 1. ensure port forwarding of your M3u is adjusted appropriately in your router 2. I had to turn off HW acceleration in Emby so it didn't use my video card. Constant buffering was created when activated. 3. I had to ensure Emby display on the Roku app was set to its highest resolution and not use Auto. 4. On my Roku 2 I do have to restart it once a day. I think there is some memory leakage that needs to clean up then things flow well. 5. I had to turn off realtime scans on my AV software. Hope this adds some value. EDIT: 6. Oh, and thanks to @Lukerefreshing the guide data when I have an issue seems to help as well Edited October 24, 2024 by AmericanMike 1 1
