I just purchased this device to upgrade from my Shield Tv and cant for the life of me use the Zidoo external  player to play any files. I have installed the Zidoo kodi fork (ZDMC 21) and if i map my shares directly to my nas files will play with the external player but using Emby for kodi next gen which i would prefer i get cannot play video error. I have changed the use path substitution on and off but still same error.

I setup using the addon mode.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

when you disabled path substitution, have you selected "ok" when you quite the config menu?

If so, I need a kodi.log for review.

Yes i did. I have attached logs with path substitution toggled on and off.

Thanks for the log, as I see the plugin reports the correct URL to the player and there is no issue in the log.

Speculation:

The zidoo player might not support http stream playback.

This is something for you to check, but if so you cannot use addon mode.

Can you play any http/url streams with this player at all (not using the emby plugin)?

Hi i had another go at this yesterday to no avail as i tried the direct path route but i think its above my skill level.

What way could i check to see if http stream playback works with the Zidoo player as i only a fresh install with emby for kodi addon installed no other addons etc?

Update I managed to get direct path sorted i think so going to delve deeper today. I guess as i will be using the ziddo player not all emby addons features will work like skip intro etc?

Very good. There are no limitations in native mode from plugin side. You should have all features as long as Kodi proper supports the external player and forwards the commands.
