unable to connect to the server after changing the port number

At first, I used the default port number(port number: 8096), the TV in my house could connect to the server through the Intranet(port number: 8096), and the TV in my other house could connect through the Internet using my domain name(port number: 26201).

But then I changed docker's port mapping 8096 to 26200, and my TV couldn't connect to the server, so I checked the current server in the TV's server list and chose Forget option in the long-press menu.

I re-entered the ip address and the new port number(26200), and the server list showed my server, but when I selected the server, instead of going to the media library, it showed me a screen to select the login method. I select the Switch server option, which displays the server normally, but when I select my server again, I still re-enter the select login method screen.

The method of manually entering the user does not work, so I choose forget server again and use emby connect to log in. I entered the pin code, logged in successfully, and showed the media library, can play videos, everything is fine.

I do not know whether connecting the server through emby connect has additional losses compared with the Intranet ip address. For example, the connection time is longer, the playback will stall, and the upstream traffic of the carrier will be consumed.Or the Intranet can play 4k, but through emby connect, limited by network speed, can only play 2k.When the network is connected through an Intranet ip address, data flows through the Intranet and does not affect the carrier. But the way emby connect works, if the data goes first to the emby server and then back to my TV, it costs the carrier uplink traffic. If I consume too much, my carrier will limit my bandwidth.Or does emby connect just locate the server when connected, and the data that plays the video later is still just flowing through my Intranet.

Since I prefer to use the Intranet, I tried again, and I chose to forget about the emby connect server. I entered the ip address and still couldn't connect as before. But when I selected the emby connect connection again, emby connect didn't work either. Although I successfully logged in to emby connect, the server list was empty.

At present, after I choose to forget the server, I re-connect by manually entering the user. Although the server list will show the server, the interface for selecting the login mode will be re-entered when I select the server. When the emby connect mode is selected, the server list is empty. I also had this problem with another house TV connected through my domain name.

I am using the android tv app version is 2.1.16g, I tried various methods, such as uninstalling and reinstalling the app, or installing an earlier version, and the problem still persisted. However, if you install the app on a new TV, there is no problem. I installed the mobile emby app on the TV, and it can also be connected through the Intranet ip.

So I think the cause of this problem is that I chose to forget the server, the android tv app recorded this configuration, resulting in the failure to re-add the current server. Although I uninstalled, the configuration file was not cleared, so I still couldn't add the current server after I reinstalled it. However, because the mobile emby app uses a separate set of configurations, it is not affected and can normally add servers.

Although the mobile emby app can connect to the server, there are some compatibility issues with UI and interaction, so I still want to use the android tv app. Please help me solve the current connection problem, and what is the difference between the connection through emby connect and the connection through Intranet ip? Do all data traffic need to be forwarded through the Internet?

Hi.  Why not? What happens?

Be sure you are entering the local user and password, not the Connect ones.

at first, The way enter the user manually and the way emby connect work well , but when select the server option for the first picture - forget (忘记), neither of these will work. Manually enter the user's way, will enter the interface of the second picture, infinite loop, can not display the media library. In the emby connect mode, will enter the screen of the third image, without showing the server.

I can guarantee that the ip address, port number, user name and password I input are correct, because I changed a mobile emby app and it can enter the server normally, but this Android TV app cannot work properly.

I feel that you did not read the details I wrote above, but just extracted the keywords with ai and simply replied, and this keyword is still wrong.

I bought a life membership to support you, and I hope you will take my problem a little more seriously and at least read my description.

I'm not saying that manually entering the user doesn't work, my description above has been that clicking the Forget button in the server long-press menu will cause  fail to reconnect to the server, either manually entering the user or emby connect.

Hi.  This is expected.  "Forgetting" (or deleting) the server removes the Emby Connect link to it.  So, after doing that, you would have to re-establish the link by re-adding the email address in the server user configuration.

Thank you, I added the email address in the user profile, and emby connect can work normally.

However, manually adding Intranet ip addresses and ports still does not work. What can I do if I cannot reconnect to the local server due to forgetting?

Is the device connecting on the same network as the server?

Posted

Yes, the device and the server are on the same network. android tv app After I hit the Forget button, I couldn't log in through my local ip. I used the mobile app to test, the same steps, can log in normally.

And you are positive that IP address was correct?

Yes, the IP address and port number are correct

Hi,

Can you show us a picture of the port setting in the dashboard network configuration?

What does your port forwarding setup look like in your router?
