TheLaceySods 3 Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Hi, First post on here. I am trying to migrate my HTPC from Kodi/NextPVR to Emby/NextPVR(Paid supporter) 1. My system works perfectly using Kodi/NextPVR, wakes up, records, goes to sleep. 2. Emby/NextPVR everything works fine apart from one problem which makes the PVR unusable The HTPC wakes from sleep (triggers set correctly in schedule tasks) ready to record, but goes back to sleep within one minute (sleeps set for 15mins), which is before the recording process has started, so I get a failed recording. If the HTPC is up and working recordings happen without a problem. I really want to move to Emby permanently but can't until this problem is fixed. Anybody any ideas

Luke 42079 Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 HI, can you try increasing your timer to 30 minutes and see if that helps?
TheLaceySods 3 Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 Hi Luke, Thank you for your reply. No, it still wakes then goes back to sleep after 1 min, before recording starts. I understand there is a 5 minute delay before recording starts after waking, can this be reduced to say 30 seconds? As I said previously, if I use NextPVR from within Kodi or by using it's own guide then the PC has never failed to record, and doesn't go straight back to sleep when triggered to wake.
Carlo 4561 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 @TheLaceySodsHi, If it's going back to sleep in 1 minute, that would seem to indicate you need to adjust the OS parameters to set the sleep value higher. Could you recheck your settings and let us know what they are set to or provide a screen shot of two of your current setup? Thanks, Carlo
TheLaceySods 3 Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 Hi Sleep set to 30 mins. It's only recordings set from within Emby that exhibit this weird behaviour. Ive been using HTPC's since Win7 media centre and have never come across this before. See above.
Carlo 4561 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Thanks for checking and ruling that out. Carlo

TheLaceySods 3 Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 Hi Absolutely, tried with the Emby wake PC setting on or off Set to off, it doesn't wake at all Set to on, it wakes for 1min and then goes back to sleep before recording starts. If I set a recording directly from within NextPVR using the NextPVR guide or from within Kodi, I have and never had any issues. The problem only occurs when I set a recording from the Emby guide, and then only when the computer is asleep. Thanks.
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 in general servers should never sleep. The wear and tear on the computer is actually increased by sleep cycles and the monetary savings in power are very small. I never allow any server of mine to sleep and i configure all my drives so they do not ever sleep either. I see no advantages to allowing my servers to sleep and there are many disadvantages. While the fact that your server awakens and then goes quickly back to sleep points at some kind of problem it gets solved by simply not allowing sleep at all. 1
Luke 42079 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Ok we’ll take a look at it. Thanks for reporting.
TheLaceySods 3 Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 Thanks, if I can send you any logs please let me know. Thank you again. 1
