Changed metadata is not added to the library.

Nach einigen Herausforderungen, läuft emby nun nahezu perfekt auf meinem Synology.

Eine Sache ist mir noch aufgefallen: Ich habe beim checken der emby-Music-Library einen Fehler in meinen Meta-Daten gesehen:

CD 1: Artist: The Alan Parsons Project // Album Artist: The Alan Parson Project

CD 2: Artist: Alan Parsons Project, The // Album Artist: The Alan Parson Project.

Also zeigt mir emby zu Recht zwei Artist-Einträge: "The Alan..." und "Alan Parson...."...

Was mache ich hier falsch?

Hi, where did you do the rescan from?

  • If you do Scan Library Files from the individual Album, it may not update correctly. 🟥
  • If you do Scan Library Files from the parent folder, via the Folder menu tab, it should update correctly. ✅
  • If you do Scan Library files of the whole library, it should update correctly. ✅

(Note: this is what I have found for Windows version, I'm not sure if it is the same for Synology version???)

Did you change both Album Artist and Artist to all be the same entity of "Alan Parsons Project, The" or only the Artist field/tag on CD1?

If you only changed the Artist, then something else to consider:

  • If you have a mixture of "Alan Parsons Project, The" for Artist and "The Alan Parsons Project" for Album Artist, then you may still have problems with the "Appears On" section.
  • The "Artists" menu tab is actually a combination of Artists and Album Artists, so both entities will still be shown.

And, one more thing, if you make the name "The Alan Parsons Project", then Emby should automatically make the Sort Title "Alan Parsons Project".

Good luck with getting it all properly organised!

Ok then, if you are still having problems, here is one more thing you could try...

With your Mp3tag image you are showing Album Artist and Artist in the LHS Tag Panel. Were you aware that this panel (in the default mode) possibly does not show all of your embedded tags? You need to look at View>Extended Tags to see all the Tags:

Depending upon how your music was originally ripped or downloaded, there could be unknown tags that are causing problems.

A common issue is that you could have a 'hidden' extended tag called Album Artist (as opposed to AlbumArtist), or vice-versa, that is causing problems.

I also use Mp3tag and name my Artists as "Artist, The" and found a lot of hidden "The Artist" tags that were being imported when I started with Emby.

Also, it is possible to customise the LHS tag panel to show both of these Album Artist tags (plus more) if you want to:

File>Options..>Tag Panel>Add Field...>Edit Field...

Here is the top section of what I currently have in my Tag Panel:

Other things to possibly check are MusicBrainz IDs and any contributing Artist mentions in other Albums.

There is also a good plugin that may help with troubleshooting:

This will allow you to see a lot of the underlying info that Emby has allocated to your files.

Hopefully this is all relevant for German in Mp3tag? Let us know how you get on!

Wow... Thanks! I really found a discrepancy in those tags... Let's see how emby reacts!
