Only play one episode?

I have the setting turned off to keep playing episodes after one is finished, but noticed that it doesn't seem to work. Then I realized that I need to click into a TV series, click a specific season, then click a specific episode for this setting to apply.

Am I correct in understanding that even though I have indicated I don't want TV series to keep playing episodes, the only way to have this happen is to click into the specific episode I want, rather than clicking play on the main screen for the next episode in line?

Thanks for the redirect. I am definitely not a fan of this behavior in Emby and hope it changes.

If I click on a specific TV series, it brings me to a landing page showing all seasons with a play button. I have the option to choose play on that landing page for the series and it will play the next episode in the sequence. That's the page I'm referring to.

Okay, that is the play button on the series page so you are requesting to play the series.  But I understand why it is confusing because, a while back, we consolidated the "Play next up" button with the "play all" button and that is what is leading to this confusion.

We need to go back to the explicit "Play next up" button IMO.

I'd much prefer to be able to control what the play button does on the series page. You already have a setting that allows people to turn off the automatic playing of the next episode. Why not have that setting apply to the series page as well?

On that one page, you can make an argument that the button really is a "Play next up" button since it starts at the next up episode and displays it below the button.  So, in that case, I agree that button should be respecting the option in that context.  But what that means is there is no "Play entire series" in order button on that page at all.

Fair enough. IMHO the dream would be to have a check box similar to the check box that marks something as watched, that allows me to select individual TV series as one that I am watching sequentially and want to see the next episode automatically, versus those that I do not. It would be a "play entire series" check box for each series.

You could have all TV series default to automatically play the entire series, and then allow the user to adjust that individually.

I have no clue how difficult this would be to program for you all, but if I'm looking for granular control, this would be it.
