Kpizzle 3 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Hello all I purchased an Emby subscription this morning and I was able to get my live tv functioning so that’s awesome. My issues is I can’t get the guide to populate I just have an error saying no program data. I’m using the Emby guide over the air with my zip code. I’ve reason some where about creating an m3u file, support asked me if I have mapped my channels? What am I missing ?
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 You may have to do, as I have done, and add a different provider or two to your guide data providers. To get my channels mapped correctly I needed to use the Direct TV data for my area as well as the local cable provider I use. I do not actually use either of those for my streams, I use m3us and the guide data that comes from them except several channels are not correctly matched. One example is "FOX Soccer Plus" where I had to use the Direct TV as a source for guide data. Emby allows multiple guide data sources for one feed. It is tedious and a little time consuming to find the correct provider for the data for some channels but it works and only has to be done once. My m3us come from my local CH-DV insulation (That gets its content from YouTube TV) and the channels that get wrong guide data from YouTube. I do not know why but "FOX Soccer Plus" has perfect guide data in the CH-DVR interface but it does not get sent to the m3u's data stream but that is remedied by using DTV's data for that one channel, and a few others. It did take a bit of time but I now have every channel correctly mapped to guide data. The only thing I REALLY wish is that the channel selection part of mapping guide data had a search function for the channels. It could have made finding the correct guide data a LOT faster and easier. But it does work as it is.
Kpizzle 3 Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 I added about 5 Tuner's and try to do a refresh guide and nothing seems to populate. When I do hit refresh guide it acts like its not getting anything like its not even a second and it just drops out.
Kpizzle 3 Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 Do Television providers (Aka the guide sources) allow their content to be used freely? Im not paying for a TV service currently so Im not authenticating to any of them.

Yes you have to authenticate to actually use their streams but "Guide data" is generally unrestricted. I use local Spectrum and local DTV data and I do not subscribe to either. I suppose the guide data is somewhat proprietary but I have never heard of any measures taken to restrict guide data from most providers. Otherwise you will not get good guide data most of the time. But you do have to manually match each channel to the guide data as automatic matching just does not work cross providers. If you match the provider (OTA) with the guide data provider (OTA) exactly then you will get automatic matching but that is problematic for me. Either fortunately or unfortunately for me I can only get two channels OTA so I have to use YouTube to get a reasonable selection. I think most of what you need to know to get your system working is in the tutorials. I suggest you do a little/lot of reading to figure out exactly what you need to know to get everything working.
Luke 42079 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Hi, do you have Emby premiere? If so, have you checked the channel mappings on the channel management screen?

I don’t know about the channel mappings maybe that’s where I’m falling short.
Luke 42079 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Try clicking on the channels tab in live TV setup. You may need to map them manually.
