smcloughlin8960 0 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 I am having an issue with IPTV on emby recently recording football. I have OTA as well as IPTV. The OTA is working great. The NEW tag is not being marked on any of the IPTV shows causing me to miss recordings. I use IPTV Editor and I discovered I am did not have the New or repeat tags enabled when being pushed to emby. I enabled that yesterday and refreshed the guide. Now I am seeing it say the word "New" on the IPTV channels but it is not marking them for recording when it should. How can I make emby recognize the new tag from IPTV editor?

Luke 42079 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Hi, this tag isn’t on the channel but rather on the program entry. it’s all based on what is in your guide data. I’m assuming you’re using xml guide data. If you look in that you’ll find the new tags.
smcloughlin8960 0 Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 (edited) Hi Luke, Correct, I am using xml. I did locate it in the file and it does include it. It appears how they are sending it is not being recognized by Emby correctly. Thats why I am wondering if it needs to be in a specific format or location to be recognized by Emby correctly when doing series recordings. Edited September 25, 2024 by smcloughlin8960

Here is a screenshot from the XML: If you look at the images from the original post it does look like it does make it to the guide data but on the name of the show. I am assuming emby wants it elsewhere or in a different format. I believe when I was using IPTVboss for epg is was using [NEW] and I think it was working correctly. These are my current settings on IPTVeditor:

These are my current settings on IPTVeditor: Hi, can you please open the xml in a text editor and then provide that snippet? Then we'll see the raw xml rather than everything mashed together. But the new tag should usually be enough.

Luke 42079 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Did you analyze it? What did you find?

Analyze, no since I am not sure on the correct format/location and unable to find documentation in Emby for XML formatting. Do I see the word "new" - yes. Do I see it showing up with the word New on the guide - yes. Is it triggering series settings properly - no. Could you please reference the correct format for tags for emby?
Luke 42079 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Quote unable to find documentation in Emby for XML formatting. It is a commonly used xmltv format, not an Emby designed format. So can you locate the program entry in the xml, and inside that entry, do you see this? <new />

I did open a support ticket with IPTVeditor and they are looking into creating an option for new or live so it is recognized in emby.

Right if all they did was add text to the title, then no, that is not a new tag. There is an actual xml tag for it just like there is for other pieces of data such as the parental rating.
