DarkStar1977 119 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 (edited) Hi Emby team. When you add a book to a collection, this is displayed under the section FOLDERS (Carpetas in Spanish), instead of BOOKS (Libros in Spanish) as you can see on the picture below: Can this be fixed ? Otherwise would be very useful that books has their own collections in adition to global collections. Thanks in advance., Edited September 25, 2024 by DarkStar1977

The label related to BOOKS, that shows the name FOLDER instead of BOOKS in the COLLECTIONS. What's added to the collection are BOOKS not folders. Hope now it's clear. Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 (edited) Minus a translation issue I see Books or something broke in the library type. Not sure how to replicate adding a book and it showing Folder though. Edited September 26, 2024 by Happy2Play

DarkStar1977 119 Posted September 26, 2024 Author Posted September 26, 2024 Changed the Emby Interface language to english:
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 (edited) Are you adding a book or a folder? But I was not able to add a folder in my testing. Edited September 26, 2024 by Happy2Play

Library type is properly defined: And per my previous comment, is not a translation issue: Edited September 26, 2024 by DarkStar1977

No, I'm adding the book, not the folder, the folders are sorted by author: Edited September 26, 2024 by DarkStar1977
DarkStar1977 119 Posted September 26, 2024 Author Posted September 26, 2024 Coud it be an issolated issue of the WD PR4100 compiled program ?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Not seeing the issue here on release or beta on an EBooks library adding a book to a collection. And did not notice anything in the translation files either. As Emby sayed added but folders are never added to the Collection in my tests only the individual book will show up as a Book. 5 minutes ago, DarkStar1977 said: Coud it be an issolated issue of the WD PR4100 compiled program ? Not likely but dev would have to comment. A pain going to all the additional folder layer to add the book but still cannot reproduce seeing Folder.
DarkStar1977 119 Posted September 26, 2024 Author Posted September 26, 2024 Uhmm funny, If I add a Comic from my Comics Library (and yes I know it's not an Star Wars one), it's placed in the same section: Comics; Comics Library: Could this be because I have 2 books libraries ?? One for Books and another for Comics ?? Cheked other content type and it's properly labeled (Videogames): But, Audiobooks instead can be added to the collection: Are placed in the "Albums" Section instead of an Audiobooks Section:
Luke 42079 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 It sounds like you used folder view and added the parent folder to the collection, not the book.

Nope. I found the issue: I have 2 different libraries, 1 for Comics and 1 for Books. As Emby uses the same type of library for both, when this is displayed into Collections does not find the correct name of the library because there are 2 of the same type. I assume Emby is labeling this "Folder" because of the above. In the picture, The Star wars ones are books and the Asterix one is a comic. Can we find a solution ? I so annoying, not just the name "Folder", but have both merged in the same row just because comics and books are the same type of library even if those are in different libraries: From my point of view are 2 options: 1.- Split Books and Comics into different libraries, so having one for comics specifically 2.- If the content is a "Comic" place in Collections in a Row Called Comics, and if it's a Book, place it in a row called Books. Thoughts?

Reading this a month later, yes, I believe what i originally said was correct. We should look at what exactly you are adding to the collection, and what screen you are doing that from.

Luke 42079 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Those look like folders to me. Try clacking on Rios de Londres and see what is inside there.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Unless there is an old vs new or hidden switch variation here, I cannot add a folder to a Collection. All folder levels just don't add. And Books add as books. Using the same example above I cannot add the James Patterson folder to any Collection, Collection is created with no items. Is hard to know exactly what is what when images are inherited from other items. Folder Folder Still folders entered first item and removed image as it is a book So I guess a question would be if you go all the way to item details page and add the book do you get the same results?

It's quite confusing. Indeed With my structure, AUTHOR-->BOOK->Bookfile.ext I was adding the "BOOK" level, and this is considered a folder, this means I have to go into the "bookfile.ext" and add it to the collection. I don't understand why this content type is behaving differently than other libraries, where you can organize things in folders (EJ. Videogames, Movies, TVShows, etc), because is the only way you can setup a picture(s) for the item (that is stored at the folder together with the file - If configured this way) and books are behaving differently. Of course If I have to go file by file, is an endless navigation just to add this to collections. Additionally, that books view does not have the option of "folders" make it more confusing... Is it possilble to adjust books behaviour to be the same as other libraries ?
Luke 42079 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Quote Additionally, that books view does not have the option of "folders" make it more confusing... Actually it does. It's just that it doesn't have any other views besides folders.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 @Lukeyou may need to add the folder indicator to EBooks library. But still have no idea how OP can have Folders in Collections?
