GhostRider 49 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Using Emby Server version 4.8.8 on Windows 64 bit version 10, LG App version 1.0.44 Emby Server is configured to play a Codec Intro based on Audio Codec. Whenever I play a movie with the TrueHD audio Codec on the LG App on my LG TV the TruHD intro is played, but then the app stops and the movie is never played. If I use the web browser or the Windows client app on my HTPC the Intro and Movie play OK, the issue only happens with the LG App. Example Emby log is attached. Any suggestions on how to get the TrueHD audio Intro and Movie to play via the LG App please? embyserver-63862525523.txt
Luke 42077 Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Hi, please attach the ffmpeg log as well. thanks.
GhostRider 49 Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 Hi @Lukejust reran the same movie with TrueHD audio codec, LG App failed as before ffmpeg log attached ffmpeg-remux-dfd7c42e-81da-4bb8-a8b4-9411c6cbe9d4_1.txt
GhostRider 49 Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 Maybe of interest, I logged onto my Emby Server whilst the TV app was hung after playing the intro, the dashboard shows the intro as "now playing"
Luke 42077 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 And the problem is only with that one intro file?
GhostRider 49 Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 Yes, but it is the only Intro I have with a TrueHD audio stream, it works fine with browser or my HTPC. Only the LG app has an issue with this Codec Intro.
GhostRider 49 Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 Hi @Luke, downloaded a new Dolby TrueHD Intro to test. This hangs as well, interestingly it hangs at 10 seconds in which is the same play time as the original Intro. ffmpeg log attached, I can enable debug on the server and generate a server log if required. ffmpeg-remux-ede940bd-cf73-4c20-81d0-038bb0b0c172_1.txtffmpeg-remux-ede940bd-cf73-4c20-81d0-038bb0b0c172_1.txtffmpeg-remux-ede940bd-cf73-4c20-81d0-038bb0b0c172_1.txt
GhostRider 49 Posted September 26, 2024 Author Posted September 26, 2024 (edited) Futher testing shows the same hang after 10 seconds with any Codec Intro that requires transcoding. Another example as below. Any idea what is causing this please? I can upload the Codec Intros to a share if you would like to test with the same files. ffmpeg-remux-b3d423c1-69a9-424f-82b1-835fd2164d7f_1.txt Edited September 26, 2024 by GhostRider
Luke 42077 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Can you provide a sample video for testing? Thanks.

SamES 1056 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 @LukeI think I can see what's happening here. The targetduration in the m3u8 file is only 11 seconds, but you can see the total duration of the segments is 20 seconds, which is the actual intro length. On my Samsung TV during playback it shows a duration of 11 seconds, then after this time it keeps playing but starts showing a negative duration on the progress bar timer. I suspect that LG just stops when the targetduration is reached, regardless of their being remaining segments. Not sure why this is not writing out the correct targetduration #EXTM3U #EXT-X-VERSION:3 #EXT-X-MEDIA-SEQUENCE:0 #EXT-X-ALLOW-CACHE:YES #EXT-X-TARGETDURATION:11 #EXTINF:10.426000, 7F139C_0.ts #EXTINF:10.426000, 7F139C_1.ts #EXTINF:0.125000, 7F139C_2.ts #EXT-X-ENDLIST

If you swap/rename files to try a different intro, be sure to run a new library scan and wait for it to finish before testing again. Otherwise, if the intros are different lengths then the server won't know that the intro length has changed.
GhostRider 49 Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 Hi @SamES To be 100% sure I just ran a library scan and the issue with Codec Intros stalling is still present. I have done several tests a summary is as below: 1) Only the LG App is affected, browser and Windows client on my HTPC play all Coded Intros with no issue. 2) With the LG App only Codec Intros with Dolby TrueHD audio fail, Dolby Digital and DTS play fine. 5 and 7 channel Dolby TrueHD both fail. 3) LG App always hangs at 10 seconds into playing the Codec Intro, tested with Dolby TrueHD intros of 11, 20 and 25 seconds duration. 4) LG App fails if there is only one or if several different Codec Intros in the TrueHD folder on the server. Windows client and Browser will pick at random which intro is played if several intros in the folder. LG App still fails if only one intro in the folder and a fresh scan completed. 4) Hang is 100% reproducible 1
GhostRider 49 Posted March 17, 2025 Author Posted March 17, 2025 hi Just wondered if there is any progress with this issue please? I am still unable to play any TrueHD Codec Intro that requires transcoding when using the LG app. The app just hangs always around 10 seconds into the Codec Intro.
SamES 1056 Posted March 17, 2025 Posted March 17, 2025 Can you confirm your current server and LG app version? Can you please attach new logs with another test (with debug on)? I will need to try again to see if I can reproduce this
GhostRider 49 Posted March 17, 2025 Author Posted March 17, 2025 Hi thanks for the prompt reply. As requested new server log and ffmpeg logs attached. Also attached screenshot of server dashboard showing frozen at 10 seconds. Hopefully debug setting is on, I used the "yes until next server restart option". Only happens with TrueHD Intros that need encoding. Windows server version 4.8.11.0 LG TV app version 1.0.45 embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-f761883c-eda9-4093-8ecc-3efac0fe049a_1.txt
GhostRider 49 Posted March 21, 2025 Author Posted March 21, 2025 (edited) Just a note to confirm I updated LG app to version 1.0.46, but this did not resolvethe issue with Codec Intros I am experiencing. I wondered if you have been able to reproduce this issue? Edited March 21, 2025 by GhostRider

SamES 1056 Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 (edited) I still can't reproduce this. I've tested with both Beta and stable but I can't reproduce it at all. Can you make a new test user with default settings and try playing back an item with this new user? The other option is to fully uninstall the app from the TV, then remove power from the TV for a few minutes, then reinstall the app. Make sure the app is really deleted from the TV, not just removed from the app ribbon/home screen Edited March 24, 2025 by SamES
GhostRider 49 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 (edited) Hi @SamES I tried the following, none of which resolved my issue with the LG app: 1) Uninstalled Emby from my TV, shutdown TV. Reinstalled app, think this did delete as I had to reenter server IP address etc 2) Created a new test userid on the server using all default settings. Siwtched to this userid in the LG app 3) Updated Nvidia graphics driver to the latest version, not sure if it is using CPU or GPU for the transcoding. None of the above resolved my issue with TureHD codec intros. Any other suggestions as to what could be causing this please? Edited March 25, 2025 by GhostRider
SamES 1056 Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Sorry, I really don't know what else to try. I can't reproduce this, and it works fine on my 2017 LG TV running the same webOS, app and server version as yourself. Are you using a reverse proxy, or trying to always use https? I'm assuming this is a local (not remote) server If you play an ATMOS movie with intros turned off, does it transcode and play correctly?
