Continue Watching Not Showing Particular Show?

Recommended Posts

I'm rewatching a show I've watched on Emby before (Poldark 2015) and it's not showing up in the Continue Watching.  Before we restarted, I marked Unplayed on the series page and it shows the first few watched, but won't show on the home screen under Continue Watching.  This is the same on Roku and Windows browsers.

Anything I can try to get this updating like other series that are working fine?

Hi there, can you please provide a specific example ? Thanks.

The show is Poldark (2015) at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3636060/ and our list of episodes matches IMDB.  We've watched the first 6 and the seasons looks like this, so I'd expect Season 1 - Episode 7 to show up on my home screen in Continue Watching, but there's no mention of the show.  It does show for other shows, both ones where we're in the middle of an episode and ones where we finished an episode but have not started the next.  One example specific example for us is The Addams Family says Season 1 - Episode 5 in Continue Watching because we finished Episode 4.

The latest Activity in Emby admin is I "finished playing Poldark (2015) - Episode 6 on Living Room Ultra LT 9/18/2024, 8:12:02 PM"

I tried again to mark the show as unwatched and then watched an episode and this show just won't get to my Continue Watching though others will.  I'm not sure if there's a file (like .nfo) I can edit or anything but don't want to make it worse lol.

Do the episodes all have season numbers filled in within the emby metadata editor?

I've got an issue where a couple of shows are listed twice on Continue Watching after I moved the files to another disk and rescanned the library

The first listing cannot be played but gets updated when I watch the next episode from the other listing

When I chose to remove the unplayable listing from Continue Watching it removed the playing listing too

Is there any way to get it back?

I suspect that this is a corrupt database matter.  Have you got any folder which you have added to more than one library, or subfolders which you have added to the same library as their parent?

My TV shows are just sorted by decade so every show is only in one library

I removed the folder, did a library scan, added the folder back and did a new library scan and it's still showing a duplicate entry but only on the Continue Watching section

All the TV series that are doing this are in my 1970s folder.

I got it to show back up on the Continue Watching screen by playing the video partway.
When I mark that episode as watched the show remains in Continue Watching but if I try just marking the episode before that as unwatched it disappears againimage.png.7954973785af151d67b14bfbd695b95b.png

What about the extra dash?  That has always been an issue for me.  My shows seem to work when they follow the title naming guidelines and no extra dash in the name.  You only use the dash before the resolution or not at all.
https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html

For example: Poldark (2015)  S02E06 Living Room - 1080P.mp4

When you write code, getting info from a line of text is really a precise issue.  We are not using AI to figure out everyone's different way of listing a media title.  If you pick your own system, it's probably not going to be recognized and not everything will work.  Every possible variation inside the guidelines has to be coded and be accepted.  It's not a situation where you just say, but all the info is there, why can't it work.  It's a code task to work inside the guidelines only.  I hope that helps explain why things don't work correctly if you don't follow the guidelines.

Hi, what do you mean by "removed the playlist listing too" ?

Posted

The first listing of Facts of Life cannot be played.

The second listing can be played.

When I removed the first one it removed both

The show only appears once in the library but it does show up twice when I do a search (not including the movie with the same name)

That's normal based on the way user data is stored. We should focus on why there are two to begin with. Please run a library scan, and then when it finishes please attach the emby server log:

Thanks.

When I clicked on identify for the two copies I see that the copy that can't be played has the old filepath.

This affects every TV series in 1970-1979 folder

Log file attached for library scan after fresh restart

I tried renaming the 1970-1979 folder to 1970-1979-2 then removing the folder from the library and adding the new path and scanning again but it didn't help

I deleted the duplicate entries for the TV shows with the old filepath and now I only have the show with the proper path is showing up in Continue Watching

That's great to hear. Is your issue resolved now?
