Bigdog5000 8 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Hi Guys, I have a fiber line 3 gigs up and 3 gigs down. Lots of band to use, and most of my users have newer 4K Fire Sticks. How should I set the internet settings and the bitrate so it gives it a chance to direct stream when possible. I know other things play a factor in remote streaming. I had one person try a 4K and it froze half way through. Someone tried it last night and it worked, but said it was "reducing the bitrate because of the quality settings" I'm not really surprised that my 4ks are going to be a struggle, they are not compressed, so you are looking a a high bitrate. I still think it is doable, maybe not all the time. I use Unraid with a 16 core cpu and a Nividia p2200 GPU.. Anyone else able to get their 4Ks working good, what settings are you using? (Server Side and User Side) Any input is appreciate. Thanks.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Remote connections are hit and miss as Clients set to Auto will usually fallback to hardcoded 4Mbps. You would need to have all remote users set client to higher value but everyone's connections speed/types will be different so there is no magic answer as there are no adaptive changes in streaming within Emby. So when the internet gets congested at peak hours and providers throttle or traffic shape their network the stream can be affected. But in the end change client side quality setting. 1
