Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 I have all 14 series of 'The Great British Bake Off' (GBBO) in my library. I have a schedule set to record new episodes, the next series (15) starts on the 24th September. It shows in the guide. If I look at the schedule then at the bottom it shows the first episode but it isn't set to record! I've tried tweaking the settings but the only one that works is if I turn off 'Don't record episodes already in my library'. I have nothing related to bake off that has a series 15 in it so what is the problem? I have 49 items under 'series' that all seem to work fine, except for this one. It didn't work last year for series 14 either, I had to manually click 'record' on the items. I've deleted it and re-added it, tried 'all episodes', 'new episodes', multiple channels to try to pick up the repeated showings, restricting the time & day, nothing works other than turning 'don't record...' off but it is repeated ad infinitum so I don't want that on or it will be forever recording old episodes! Is there anything I am missing? What is the problem? The schedule (currently): It shows the first two matches quite happily, the first one should be set to record, it isn't: The schedule list, nothing for the 24th, it does see the companion show on the 26th but not the actual show!:
Luke 42077 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 HI, what do you have in your library that is a close match? Meaning it thinks you already have it.
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 Close match? It would be a bit worrying if it was matching anything other than exact matches surely? I have all series of GBBO 1-14, there is nothing for series 15 so nothing should match. Series 15 hasn't broadcast yet so it can't be in my library. I don't really know what else to say, it should match against the program, series and episode surely and be an exact match on all of them. Otherwise it could decide not to record for any number of reasons!. If I want "The Great British Bake Off", "Series 15', 'Episode 1' then that and only that must match to stop it, otherwise it's no use at all? I must be misunderstanding what you mean.
Luke 42077 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Can you show us what is in your library?
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 My library is 7TB so no. Is there any way to get it to tell me why it has decided not to schedule it? i.e. to tell me what it thinks it matches with?
Luke 42077 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 do you have a series of the same name?
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 Obviously I have 'the great british bake off' series 1-14, which is the same name but no series 15. I have a few of 'the great british bake off: extra slice' but no series 15 - the last of those is series 13. I have some programs that have a series 15 but nothing even remotely like 'the great british bake off'. It's very odd. It would be handy maybe in a future version if you could enable debug or something and have it tell you what it has matched it to? I'm assuming that isn't possible at the minute. It did it last year too (series 14 obviously) but I didn't raise it. Nothing else that I have noticed has done it.
Luke 42077 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Just now, Cluttered said: Obviously I have 'the great british bake off' series 1-14, which is the same name but no series 15. Try unchecking and then rechecking any checkbox on that screen, and then attach the emby server log. thanks.
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 I've just edited it and turned off 'do not record episodes already in my library' and made sure 'new episodes only' is on, it now shows it. Only one seems to be scheduled but by not having the 'do not...' on will it only record s15 on and will it duplicate them? They show it at 8pm repeated at midnight (and numerous times during the following week), the schedule only shows the original 8pm one so is that going to work or just start recording multiple copies?
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 I rotated the logs. Went to the schedule listing and selected the GBBO entry, turned 'do not...' back on, it vanishes from the schedule and then I downloaded the log. embyserver.txt
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 It says it found exisitng series based on provider ids: 446286, no idea what that means. There are 3 shows with similar names (all by the same company on channel 4) 'The Great British Bake Off' - the main show. 'The Great British Bake Off: Extra slice' - it's companion program, they do this a lot nowadays discussing what happened on the real one. 'The Great British Bake Off: The Professionals' - a spin off. None of them have a series 15 though. Professionals isn't on currently. Obviously the companion show follows a few days after the real one. That is scheduled. I'll disable that and see what happens.
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 (There is also a celebrity version but it's called the great celebrity bake off' or something like that. Hmm, it now shows up. So it seems to be a confusion between 'GBBO' and 'Extra Slice' ). Anything I can do about that or do I have to pick one or the other?
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 (edited) I only have the two programs not the professional one in my library: The Great British Bake Off - imdb:tt1877368 ; moviedbid:34549 ; tvdbid:184871 The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice - imdbid:tt4057258 ; moviedbid:61162 ; tvdbid:284546 All the ID's are very different so presumably it is matching by text title instead and I am guessing the ":" is causing problems? Luke 42077 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 And are you using emby guide data or xml?
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 It's GBBO that I want mainly, so I guess I can live with iot this way but it's a bit worrying that other things may fall foul of this too.
Cluttered 15 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 Actually just looking through the 49 series I have scheduled. 'Taskmaster' & 'Taskmaster: Champion of Champions' both record fine. 'Below Deck', 'Below Deck Down Under', 'Below Deck Mediterranean', 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' and 'Below Deck Adventure' all seemed to be okay too as I remember.

Luke 42077 Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Strange. Does it have an episode titled Cake Week?
Cluttered 15 Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 There will be a few, they tend to have a number of the same ones each year with the occaisional new one thrown in, so bread week, cake week, biscuit week etc... Search for 'cake week' gives:
Cluttered 15 Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 Not sure what happened overnight (scheduled jobs obviously) but the programme has vanished from my scheduled items again. I didn't re-add the other one so there is no reason it isn't showing. It's in the guide, if I open up the series under live tv then it's there and it shows the S15E1 entry and it's repeat a few hours later, neither is scheduled for recording!! I've changed nothing, it was there quite happily(ish) last night and now it has gone again. Turn off 'Don't record...' and up it pops, turn it back on and then a second or so later it vanishes again. *sigh*.
Cluttered 15 Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 I turned 'Don't record on...', 'Check all...' off so hopefully it will stay in the schedule, but who knows. There is nothing in my library that starts 'The Great' or contains 'Bake' that has a series 15 so heaven knows what is upsetting it and why it was fine last night and gone tonight!! Seems to be just messing with me now, maybe on even number days it won't show, odd days it might, or maybe if I drink coffee it will deign to show up. Seems to be a law unto itself .
Cluttered 15 Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 Decided to add 'The Great British Bake Off: Extra Slice' back in, with 'don't record...' & 'Check all...' on and it instantly shows up as it should, no problem at all. The 'GBBO' one is still there at the moment. No idea what it is doing. There is definitely something odd with that one programme.
