AppleTechStar 0 Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 When will Emby server for Truenas Electric Eel be transitioned to the new docker platform? This is something the Emby team is working on?
Luke 42077 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Hi, can you use our TrueNAS Scale package?
AppleTechStar 0 Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 I’m asking for my instance of updating from Dragonfish to Electric Eel. I’m hoping my current Emby kubernetes installation will carry over to the new docker platform. Kubernetes as I’m sure you know has been deprecated in Electric Eel, and kubernetes apps are no longer supported. Some apps have already went through the transition to Docker for Electric Eel update readiness. GitHub is showing Emby as not being ready to work when updating to Electric Eel.
bacardi8 19 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Hello, As far as I know/understand, these ongoing transitions of apps, is for current apps from the official catalog, and not from the apps from the former Truecharts catalog. This means, if you install the Emby app from the current official catalog, then this app will migrate to docker automatically later on in Truenas EE. With apps from the former Truecharts catalog, this will not be possible. please correct me if I'm wrong.
Q-Droid 989 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 If TrueNAS is transitioning to Docker compose does this mean they'll do away with the dedicated catalog and move to Docker hub for their apps? It sounds to me like a move from a proprietary approach to a more open one. But I don't use TrueNAS and haven't spent much time looking into the details of this change.
bacardi8 19 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) Yes and no, they will use both by the release of EE. Take a look here > The Future of Electric Eel and Apps - Announcements - TrueNAS Community Forums Edited September 17, 2024 by bacardi8 1
