Emby not downloading packages to finish windows installation

after downloading emby file emby seems.to always stop with error stating cannot download packages? 

Have tried repeatedly but nothing works cant come to reason to waste my money on a product that already has issues with its installer 

Any possible solutions for this? Running windows 10 ; no firewall or antivirus yet

Last resort you just get the portable version and unzip the system folder to a location of your choice, usually in its own folder.

But devs will need to know the exact errors you are getting and if there is anything in Event Viewer that is related to the install.  But usually comes back to Windows missing or some component not installed as have yet to have the install fail on any Windows installation.

OK. This is happening because the installer is unable to download required components. Typical causes of this are firewall, security software, or VPN.

You could just skip it altogether and do the portable install as happy2play mentioned. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Nportable not an option for me however I know windows10 enables its windows defender firewall for users private network so I'm going to disable its firewall completely and run the setup again and see if that works cause windows defender is not really a virus scanner will let everyone know the outcome

Portkable is not an option because I only want to use Emby for streaming from my computer to my TV  (holds all my data movies, music etc.or am I missing something?

Hi.  "Portable" just means you can install it wherever you want.  You should be able to use the portable install.

No and my firewall is off or windows defender for windows 10 for that matter and sorry  get hub is the culprit where the packages are downloaded from and this site sucks; been down for a few days now and why emby chooses to have. You download packages from another site???? Is beyond me

I also use chrome browser if that makes a difference??

As mentioned, the only difference in portable and installer is install location that is it installer forces it to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server where portable you extract into a folder of your choosing.

But what is the exact errors you are receiving?

@origmewhy not try the portable download? It is as easy as download, unzip and run embyserver.exe.

Sorry it's been awhile since replying I finally got Emby to download and install on my Windows 10; the solution was to enable DHCP on my ethernet adapter; not sure hpw that wss not checked in the nic card properties but that fixed the package download iss but now have another question concernining library files When I was setting up my libraries I chose movies and ended up creating too many movie selections with my genere folders " horror," sci fi and so on and need to remove those and have just one to choose from with my sub libraries horror sci fi etc., how do I remove these extra movies that I created by error? Plex has a way to restructure your folders by category and Emby must have a way correct?

Here is a photo I took of these damn movie labels emby forces you to choose when adding media libraries and now I wished that I had created just one but still new to Emby's way of adding media folders/files I just want to start over and have one titled moves and my different catrgories of movies ihave looked all over and played with every option in the library setup page and can't find whwere to eemove these titles Plex was so much easir just right click and choose remove

You've created multiple movie libraries - you should remove all except one (Settings>Library tab in the sidebar) and point that library to your movies parent folder (Edit that library from the same tab>select path under Folders section). 

How are your folders and files named and organized?

OMG I just made a big deal out of nothing  removed ALL movies and made one with all my catrgorized movies (with path) and so much better organized now! Thanks!!
