Music metadata question

One of the few things I continue to use Plex for is music (and recording TV, but that's for another post).  I've been able to demonstrate that the Album Overview (and other) metadata do not get populated in a Metadata load or refresh unless the MusciBrainz Release Group is populated. I manually added/deleted all the other references and the only thing that needed to be present to get the Overview into my Emby server's database was the Release Group.

Now, I ripped the vast majority of my CD collection at least a decade ago and really don't want to go through all that again just to get the Release Group into the metadata tags. There are options like using MP3Tag or Picard to batch through it all and rewrite the tags too, I suppose though that feels fraught.

What I've noticed with all my old ripped albums is that when Emby identifies it when it's added - when successful - it will add the MusisBrainz album id into the metadata only. This means that none of the album Overview information is imported.

And, when I do intervene to manually add the Release Group, as often as not the Overview information is...lacking. Here's an example:

I'm trying to love Emby for music, but this part always frustrates me.  Am I missing a trick somehow and/or doing something wrong?  Or is this "just the way things are"?

Cheers for any helpful advice!

HI, no this is not required, but it depends on whether or not it was able to locate the album on musicbrainz without having the release group id.

Can you please attach the emby server log from when this was first imported?

Thanks !
