hawaiizfynest 0 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 (edited) Ok, so I have a domain to which I made a sub domain. I want to point Emby to that subdomain but I cannot find a good tutorial for it. I’m not a complete noob when it comes to domains and the alike but I am new to this. Posted this in qnap because that’s where my Emby server is coming from. Anyone mind giving me an assist? Thanks in advance! Edited September 12, 2024 by hawaiizfynest Had to add information.
visproduction 315 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Hawaii, You have a SSL domain name pointing to your server, correct? Incoming traffic to your subdomain needs to be routed - port forwarding to Emby start page. This, I am pretty sure is an incoming traffic filter setting on your firewall for your server OS. Emby offers a automatic test link to see when you get it right. Look at the instructions for setting that up. https://emby.media/support/articles/Installation.html Hope that helps.

I appreciate your help but I need more in depth instructions. Mind shooting me a message? I’ll gladly Venmo you a few bucks for your time.
visproduction 315 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Hawaii, Every OS server and router would be different. That's why there are step by step guide to get through. Windows has set things to do, Linux and Mac servers are different. Every router is also different. It's important to lock in an IP address to your server on your router so it does not reassign a random address when you reset the router. There are hundreds of routers out there and every model is a little different. I would suggest you try the guide first. Trying to support you runs into the issue, if my system is different, then all I would be doing is talking you through what the guide is suggesting. I would not have the same screens. See how it goes. If you are still stuck, perhaps I can try a support call. This forum is also full of people who can make detailed suggestions if you mention what server you are using. One thing, not to do is to post your remote IP address and make sure it is remove from any screenshot of your admin dashboard. We don't want your IP attacked by random bots, because they found the exact address mentioned in the forum. Hope that makes sense.

I just need help with the sub domain setup. I’m using a QNAP NAS and trying to point that to my sub domain.
