Version requirements for apps?

A question that has been in the back of my mind for a few years has presented itself once again.

Are the apps used to access a server, version specific or version dependent?

Reason for the question is that I have paused the upgrade on my server version at 4.17.4.0 as there are problems in the 4.8.. line of the server in regard to Live TV.  I have been watching the change log on the newer server versions, and have not seen the problem being addressed.

The apps that are installed on the devices which access the server are still upgrading on an "as available" basis.  Roku is up to 4.1.26, android is up to 3.4.20, etc.

Is there a time where the updates to the apps will create a compatibility problem?  Is there a list of versions that work with specific versions of the server?

Thanks

AFAIK they're version dependent, last I know it was 4.7.9 server version, so I'd assume 4.7.14 as a minimum is not that far off. I might be wrong, though.

Hi, yes Emby apps are now beginning to set their min required server version to 4.7.14.

I am aware that it would take a bit of effort on the part of developers, but would it be possible to indicate such requirement on the "General/Windows\ Emby:Latest Versions" post?

Hi, we can look at a way to publicize the information. Thanks.

Apps won't update unless the minimum server version is running.

I won't be adding that information to the Emby Latest Versions post, as it'll be a nightmare to manage.
