Unraid Emby Takes All Memory and Then Crashes

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I am running the latest non-beta of Emby on my Unraid server.  Unraid is on the latest non-beta release as well.  Today my netdata console detected that memory was maxing out.  Then Unraid shut down Emby due to being out of memory.

This has happened once before, and I don't know why it happened.  I checked the logs and didn't see anything of concern, but I am not an Emby expert.  Not even close.  Any ideas why this could be happening?

I know that there were 3 streams running at the time.  Two local TV streams and one internet movie stream.

Unraid server is an I5-14500 with 64GB of RAM.  The docker runs in a 1TB SSD cache that has roughly 900GB free.

What version of unraid are you on? I’m on 6.12.11 and haven’t had your issue. I have 128gb of ram

6.12.13 is what I am running. I will check into this.

I’d try an older version and see if it helps. Lmk! Cause I’ll definitely skip that version if that’s the case 😅

Then restart the server and let us know how things compare. Thanks.

I made a change and put the transcoding directory on a different drive and not in the docker.  The drive is an SSD.  This situation happened when the Emby server was transcoding.  I am wondering if something ballooned during transcoding.

I will disable these if I get another crash.  So far, its been a few days and no issues.
