LukePG 0 Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 (edited) Hello, New Emby user here. Our use case is in a House of Worship as a media player. We want to play only our video and media on a Screen and sound system. Our goal is to be able to have someone manage the controlling (selecting, playing, pausing, seeking, stopping, etc) from a dedicated mobile device. We have the media stored on a Synology drive and just provisioned a Mac Mini in the rack to be the Emby Server. I've just installed Emby and planned to use the Mac Mini HDMI/audio outs to connect to the display & sound system. We are avoiding other Plex/Nvidia Sheild setups because we don't want any other media to be accessed, just our local media. The hope is that operating the Mac Mini's mouse/keyboard is not required and can control Emby entirly from a mobile app (having the media play on the screen, not the mobile app). Is this a recommended configuration? It looks like we might need to purchase the Premiume license, which is fine if it does what we need. Thank you, Luke Edited September 6, 2024 by LukePG
Luke 42077 Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Hi, are you saying the server is on a mac and that it will also be the device that is playing ?
LukePG 0 Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 Would it be more advisable to have the sever run in the Synology NAS and have the Mac Mini be the client? I am looking for a solution where a mobile device can control a client with an HDMI out.

I was just asking questions to get a sense of the environment. You should have the server on whichever you prefer.

So if you have the Emby macOS app installed on the server machine, and it is open and signed in, then you can use Emby mobile apps to remote control it. Have you tried that?
