Thoemse 0 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 I'm curious if there's a possibility to enforce the use of specific audio codecs. In particular, I mostly use a LG SmartTV with the native Emby app installed. I'm using a LG Soundbar connected via HDMI. The sound is passed through. The TV does not support DTS codecs, the Soundbar does. Now when I'm playing a movie with DTS sound, it's encoded to AC3. I assume this happens because the TV reports to the app that DTS is not supported and needs to be converted. I'm looking for a way to override this.

Luke 42079 Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 HI, I still don't think that will work because it's just not available at the WebOS platform level. It won't even passthrough formats that it can't handle. You can confirm this by temporarily restricting all transcoding permissions for your Emby user. This will force the app to try to direct play. See what happens with that - my guess is you will get no audio.
