The fact they don't know what's causing it means they can't replicate the problem to see it in action so they can attempt to fix it. All they can do is look at the logs and check to see if there are any errors that should not be there. I'd say you're being difficult just for the sake of being difficult. A 2 year commitment for such a problem without replacing said hardware with known hardware that works is pretty stubborn. Some issues just can't be fixed, specially if the dev team can't figure out what is causing it. You've already been told by several high profile users to just stop using pgssubs on your Roku, and yet you still demand to have it working. Not knowing what's causing an issue does not necessarily mean being unable to replicate it. No one even said they couldn't replicate it. You came in here and started saying that. This has been a two year issue because that's how slow the Emby team has been. Who are you anyway? You're trying to spin it around and make me seem like the problem because I didn't just give up right away. If Emby doesn't want to support the burn in feature, they should drop it. Somehow I'm the difficult one for wanting to see the issue fixed instead of just replacing my devices. Your post history is a lot of attitude and telling people that every issue is their fault. Again, I give up on this now and was only expressing frustration in how Emby handled this. You just want to argue - I'm done.
RanmaCanada 499 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Image based subtitles are a serious problem. They were designed to be used in a closed eco-system and burning them in is single threaded and requires an ungodly powerful system. I've discussed this before in the hardware thread, where my i5-1235u can only handle 1 burn in with pgssubs. 1. That's it, that's all. Even Plex and Jellyfin struggle with PGS. 1
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The fix for this is simple. Don't use the type of subs that cause the problem or, do like I do, and don't use subs at all except for the very rare places where it is unavoidable. There seems to be a problem with burning in subs and you really need the subs there is a way to use programs like Handbrake to produce a video that have with the subs actually as part of the video. I use that for the few videos I have that are in a language I do not understand, like the ones I have in Tagalog. I see no advantage but a LOT of disadvantages to using external sub files and burdening Emby or Plex or Kodi or Jellyfin or any other media playback program with a lot of unneeded extra work.
