CharlesF 36 Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 First off I'm brand new to Emby (bought lifetime license) coming over from plex and this is one of the main reasons why. I use https://privateiptvaccess.com/ as my IPTV service and can easily import the m3u. However, I cannot get automatic mapping of channels and that means I have to manually map each channel and figure out which guide to add in order to get a proper mapping which is pretty time consuming. So my question, is there a better way to do this? Am I missing something? Thanks again for the great app.
Luke 42077 Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Hi there, can you please provide a specific example of a channel? Thanks.
CharlesF 36 Posted September 3, 2024 Author Posted September 3, 2024 Every channel. Nothing gets mapped automatically. Like ESPN, TNT, USA, ABC etc etc. I tried using m3u4u but the instructions appear dated as my playlist doesn’t automatically show up under the dashboard.
CharlesF 36 Posted September 3, 2024 Author Posted September 3, 2024 Sorry, also a number of the services have a URL plus a user id and password but I don’t see where to input the user id and password when creating a new M3u tv source. Does that mean Emby only supports uploading an M3u file?

CharlesF 36 Posted September 3, 2024 Author Posted September 3, 2024 To be clear what I figured out was the URL issue, which wasn't as the URL contains the credentials. The mapping however still fails. I have to manually map every single channel....
Luke 42077 Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 OK let's look at a specific example. Thanks.
CharlesF 36 Posted September 3, 2024 Author Posted September 3, 2024 Pick a channel, any channel, when I input the M3U url, the channels come up but they all say 'Not mapped to guide data'. for every single channel. Only way is to manually map them.

Then that should make it easy to choose an example We need to look at the contents of both the tuner and guide data and then we'll learn why it's not automatically mapping.
CharlesF 36 Posted September 3, 2024 Author Posted September 3, 2024 Please let me know what it is you need to help. I am simply creating a M3U tuner using a URL...sorry I'm very new to Emby so just let me know what you need.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 (edited) Yes but in the end it is about the content of the M3U you are using as a url is meaningly as it is what that url provides. So you would need to parse the m3u for a specific channel so the devs can see if it is even mappable to said provider guide data. No m3u IPTV provides the same information so it comes back to what the source is providing you. You can manually get that m3u also usually. Edited September 3, 2024 by Happy2Play
Luke 42077 Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Exactly we need to look at the contents of it.
CharlesF 36 Posted September 4, 2024 Author Posted September 4, 2024 Contents of what. What don’t need me to provide?

CharlesF 36 Posted September 8, 2024 Author Posted September 8, 2024 Emby directv based on my zip code
Luke 42077 Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 On 9/8/2024 at 4:53 AM, CharlesF said: Emby directv based on my zip code OK. What are the names of the channels in the guide? Do they match up with the names of the channels in your m3u? I think we already both know the answer is no. For example you have channel names such as: 24/7 THE OFFICE The guide data that we're getting from GraceNote is meant for true tv channels, so it's no surprise that you'd have to map manually. Some of the other ones not matching could be due to the fact that the channel names are prefixed with USA. That's an area that could potentially be improved on to try and match better.
CharlesF 36 Posted September 11, 2024 Author Posted September 11, 2024 Except there are also channels like “ESPN” which should match….
